Deliciously Easy Gluten-Free Hot Cross Buns: A Step-by-Step Guide

K welcome back to Mama’s Kitchen today we’re going to be making everybody’s Easter favorite Hot Cross Buns I want to show you how you can use one of M’s D mixes blend free mix to make beautiful hot cross BNS with a bit of a Twist you can make hot cross buns.

With all three of the mixers in our range our plant-base our original and of course the gluten-free that we’re going to try today so let’s get right into it I’m just going to grab my mixer you can do this by hand but it’s probably best than a mixer because you need to do it at certain speeds for certain times with the gluten-free mix the other mixers you.

Can do by hand quite easily if you follow the instructions on the back of the pack pack you just want to add your water 2 and 1/4 cups of water if you open up this cute little pack s Mama’s magic yeast you just tip that in there let it work its magic and you just tip your mix straight in now on the back of the Packer you.

Just want to pay attention to the speeds so the first one do it for 1 minute on speed on speed one not fast now that we’ve mixed it for 1 minute on speed one we’re going to do the other three steps on the instructions it’s really important that you follow the times and the speeds pretty much to a te it’s quite technical.

But it will work out so the second stage is same thing you’re just increasing the speed to two and mixing it for 3 minutes and then once you’ve done that we’re going to add the oil you’re going to mix it on one for 1 minute now when this is mixing it’ll look a bit funny because it it’ll SE kind of separate into pieces with coat with oil and it’ll look like.

It’s not mixing together one little tip that you can do while it’s doing that is just to lift your bowl up and tilt it so the hook can get right to the edges it’ll seem like it’s not coming together but just have faith in the process and it will work out the last step is just to give it really good mix on Speed 2 for 3 to 5 minutes I usually end up.

Taking it right to 5 minutes but before probably at about 4 minutes we’re going to stop it and we’re going to add our inclusions into our dough now if if any of you have kids like mine I got ones that they don’t like fruit they like chocolate chips or nothing just the spices is all they can handle I’m making these for a friend who is gluten-free.

And she loves um cranberries and so I’m doing not your usual I’m doing cranberries and dried aots and our spices make spice and it’s two tablespoons okay and we’re just going to use that last minute of mixing to mix the inclusions into the dough okay now we’ve finished mixing.

That we’re going to just dump it out onto this plate and let it rise for an hour it’s not as runny as your original mix you’ll notice but that is perfect so I’m going to leave that to rise just to compare this is the dough we’ve just made and this dough here has.

Been sitting for about an hour hour and a half maybe and this one’s all ready to roll so we’re going to put that aside to keep rising and let’s get get started cutting this one up ready for the oven it’s kind of a square rectangle but I’m just want to cut it into 12 pieces so we’re going to make a dozen these are quite big you could make.

Two dozen and make them a bit smaller for little hands or snack size could have it quite rustic looking and just cut like scar on or we’re going to form nice round bands to put on our tray so just molding it into a sickle so I’m just going to pour this this is for the crosses pour it in a Piping Bag or a squeeze bottle the dough.

Is risen and you’ve rolled it out and you’re ready to put it in the oven F making it’s a greatest activity with the family and don’t be too hang up on how perfect those um roll the Buns look one thing I really love about our Mama’s DX range is that everyone gets to enjoy Taste of Home from Mama’s.

Kitchen I have one daughter-in-law that’s glutenfree and one that’s dairy free and so it’s really awesome to have um a gluten-free mix in the pantry plant-based mix and the original mix um so that anytime I can just we put out and make make something delicious like hot cross buns what we doing today so Easter time this year is going to be.

Awesome because they’re going to come to the table and there going to be something for everyone so here’s the finished product our glutenfree hot crust buns with dried apricots and cranberries and of course our Easter spice mix spice just going to.

Coat it with a little bit of butter or you could use a milk and sugar syrup it’s quite nice for a bit of sweetness we’re done
