Gluten-Free Galore: A Celiac’s Dream Grocery Haul
hello and welcome to my channel my name is Amy and I am currently on a weight loss journey I am following ww I get 23 points a day 28 weeklys I’ve lost about 10 lb on Weight Watchers I’ve lost another 7 lbs by doing an Elimination Diet so 17 lbs in a year I also have celiac disease and so everything that I.
Eat has to be gluten-free and today’s video is going to be a little Aldi haul I did not go grocery shopping in the month of June because I spent way too much money in May and I just had an abund abundance of food and uh so I challenged myself for the month of June to not buy anything and I think I bought almond milk and I.
Bought ice cream cuz I had a craving and I I had to satisfy the craving and um yeah so I did really good today the last day of the month so I was like I need to replenish my vegetables because that area of my fridge got completely depleted and so that is like pretty much what you’re going to see in this haul plus some carb sources because I did run.
Out of carb sources as well but I have a lot of proteins um I like to get my proteins at Costco and so I still have a bunch of proteins left so that’s why this Haul is pretty much vegetables and carbs um I don’t eat a lot of processed foods just because my body does carry a lot of inflammation and with the celiac disease you have to be very careful and.
So um this is pretty much how your girl eats and like I am ready for some vegetables again in my life because in the end I was using Frozen and I’m like out of frozen even so okay I’m going to start Ram stop rambling and then show you what I got ooh I only spent $532 too like if you have an Ali by you.
And you’re not shopping there you need to shop there because it’s really like groceries are so expensive um but when you go to Ali and like you buy the right things like it’s really not that bad at Aldi for other grocery store yes but Aldi is where it’s at all right starting off with some Frozen um I like to keep frozen.
Vegetables in my freezer just for instances like I just went through when I didn’t have any fresh um and I mean honestly they’re frozen at the peak of freshness so there’s really nothing wrong with frozen vegetables however the caveat to that if you have celiac disease you have to be careful what what um frozen vegetables you get because for.
Instance if I go to Walmart and I buy like the store brand Walmart frozen vegetables I have to look at every single package because a lot of times they’re processed in the same Factory as wheat and as Celiac like I cannot I cannot do that that’s cross-contamination and so like I can’t buy that Frozen vegetable so even though.
With celiac disease like things might look glutenfree you always have to look at that at that label um it’s just part of our Celiac life go us um let me know in the comments if you feel my misery with that because it honestly stinks but luckily for me Aldi is pretty good um they’re also really good about labeling um their food so I feel good.
With the Ali Brands um here I just got a California medal uh I got some shelled animame animame is good for fiber and protein um and then I just got two bags of steamed broccoli so that’s it for my frozen vegetables for now um other cold items I picked up some nonfat Greek yogurt this.
Is zero points on Weight Watchers and like I didn’t really like you can make this like you can make this a vanilla oh I’ll show you how I do that I have these sweet drops this is a Stevia drop this is zero calories it’s Ste Stevia um and it’s vanilla flavored and so like I can put a little Swit of this in there and make it a vanilla.
Yogurt and then add in some fruits um and I have a 0 point protein filled Greek yogurt um I also enjoy using this for my sour cream um and then I have dabbled a little bit into two ingredient dough uh gluten-free but I have not really been too successful with that um but yeah so Greek yogurt and.
Then almond milk I get the unsweetened original um this is zero points if you use less than a cup on Weight Watchers and that is what I use for my morning coffees I use less than a cup um and that works out for me oh and then in my coffees I have another Stevia little thing that I sweeten out with so I got this at.
Amazon um not from Aldi I don’t I don’t think I’ve seen any like liquid Stevia at Aldi let me know in the comments if you have but I have not found it there uh so okay so that’s cold things let me put them away and then I’ll come back with everything else I lied it wasn’t the last of cold things um I got this roasted red bell pepper hummus in the.
Singles because I have found for myself if I get a thing of hummus I enjoy it maybe for like that first like little dip and then I’m like over it so I found that the singles really work for me um because I do crave hummus from time to time but it just takes me a while to go through uh tub of hummus it’s also pretty easy to make but honestly then I.
Have a ton and I don’t eat it all and I just I don’t know the singles and I I know it’s extra packaging but it works all right I guess now I’ll just show you the rest of the cold cold that I keep in the fridge anyway grapes love grapes I like red I like green they were on sale for like a dollar dollar something a pound.
They were cheap um and then I got strawberries strawberries it’s starting to be well it’s towards the end of strawberry season so these are at least on Florida these are California these were $189 I think yes I’m still tired.
Sorry uh baby spinach and arugula I am loving this blend um I like to add like the little pepperiness from the arugula and spinach is just kind of blah it’s spinach but this like mixed together I really enjoy that so I picked that up and then some fresh french green beans I didn’t see these I think they.
Have these in the Frozen too but I had already picked these up um and I like the crunch of a fresh green bean okay now that is everything that’s cold let me put this away and then I’ll come back all right some more vegetables I got some bell peppers these are just a staple um I have one of those vegetable Choppers I love that thing so much um.
And so like I try to prep these ahead of time and chop them up and keep some in the fridge and some in the freezer um but even like that stash got wiped out in the month of June so it really does help me when I do that um same thing with baby bella mushrooms I will prep these up and chop them up and put some in the freezer and some in the fridge.
But that’s when I get that at Costco but I got it at Aldi this time so it’s smaller but I really do like baby bella mushrooms I try to sneak in mushrooms anywhere that I can um I got an English cucumber I don’t know why they wrap these things in plastic like every other cucumber comes not in wrapped in plastic.
But this one always does and so so because of that reason I like have to pretty much like I take this out of the plastic immediately and chop it up um cuz otherwise it turns to Mush and I don’t like the mushy cucumber so but if does anyone know why do they wrap this in plastic but I do like these because they have less seeds.
Than a regular cucumber these and then the mini ones are good and then I got some just grape tomatoes um I plan on making like a grape feta Basil Pasta um and I can just bake these that’s that Tik Tock pasta that was like popular 2 years ago I plan on making that so with that um I did pick up some.
Brown rice and quinoa gluten-free penet I typically like the Jo jial brand of pasta but they don’t have that at Aldi um and this is just organic brown rice and organic quinoa so um sometimes with gluten-free pastas you have to be careful because they like cook super super super fast um and then they turn mushy and they break apart but that’s.
Like the story of a gluten-free life it’s not wo with me cuz it’s not wo with me because we can cure our Disease by not taking medication and just by eating gluten-free but it is annoying gluten-free pasta so with that I also picked picked up this tomato basil organic pasta sauce this is the Aldi brand and I’ve said this multiple.
Time times on my channel this is by far the best Jarred sauce that’s on the market for the price this is $1.99 for this thing and it’s got a lot of flavor and not any additives um so you can compare this to the Rayos any day for like a quarter of the price so definitely if you do jar sauce and you have an Aldi and you.
Haven’t tried this this would be like one of my number one recommendations for you is to get this and I like the tomato basil that’s the one I get every time um the Simply Organic that’s got to be what you pick up and then I also picked up some brown rice this is quick cook.
Um sometimes a lot of time okay so rice is gluten-free some people don’t realize that rice is gluten-free but is indeed gluten-free when you go to like things like Uncle Ben’s the ready rice yeah that’s not gluten-free they add stuff to the package and then it’s also processed in the same Factory so I don’t eat any of those um if you also look at them and.
I’m not shading anyone that eats it but it’s got canola oil in the rice why why so I just like to pick up just just a regular brown rice and I don’t know why this says quick cook but it’s quick cook apparently in 20 minutes I’ve never picked this in particular one up but um I do pick this one up this is.
Just some quinoa quinoa is another gluten-free grain it’s got a lot of fiber it’s got protein um and it’s a very easy grain to cook and it’s a good source of fiber fiber is good for your gut so I got quinoa and then I picked up some sweet corn cuz I was out of that I just really.
Like to eat corn and uh it’s another good source of fiber and then I got some sweet potatoes I’m going to try to make some like sweet potato fries bake a sweet potato um sweet potatoes and then I got the mini avocados um for my avocados I keep like maybe two on the counter and let them.
Ripen and then I keep the rest in the fridge and then um they stay for a while in the fridge and I just take them out as needed um but that’s that’s a little trick they’re they do well in the fridge and then I just got some nanners always got to have nanners and that’s my Ali haul but I did pick these from the garden.
I got two zucchinis um it’s kind of crazy like I don’t know if you can tell on camera but like it’s not it doesn’t have the um wax coating on it obviously cuz it came from the Earth but it just makes me think that the food that we’re eating and like what they’re doing to it cuz there’s no wax coating and I’m not like this ooh food in food in.
America is not the greatest right we know that but I’m like I mean we got to eat also and we have to live in or I happen to live in America so I deal with what you know and I’m never going to be a girly to like make my own food yeah that’s that’s not me that is not me but other people that grow them and give them to me I will eat their.
Homegrown veggies all day every day and this was just a beautiful zucchini that I’m looking forward to eat but just like when I got it it’s like there’s no ax coating it is scary to think about all those things sorry I’m not I’m a normal person I promise but I do pay attention more to what I put in my body and it does just make me think a little bit.
That is all I can’t believe I’m putting this on the internet but I am I don’t know I’m not a crazy person I’m sounding like a crazy person I got to go this was a six minute thing too so I’m I’m not re-shooting it I’m not actually it’s like 7 minutes now okay okay so on that note I am going to.
End this Aldi haul uh not a little bad haul for $50 something dollar and I can eat well this week I am not meal prepping because I’ve got some other things going on uh so hopefully I managed to make up some quick meals this week so stay tuned for some more videos like that um but things that I will prep I’m going to you know obviously cut up.
The Cucumber here and then also the strawberries the strawberries need to get prepped um but that’s it no big food prep so pray for me pray for me this week that I eat this stuff okay okay thank you so much for watching uh I hope you enjoyed this crazy Aldi haul and if you like this video uh or gluten-free or food or anything like that interested in.
WW give me a follow I’d very much appreciate it and um I will see you in my next video bye
