And substitutions, and frequently asked questions. Now, for the tortillas, you could use any variety that you like. I really like using these king-size white flour tortillas because they are gluten-free and they have the most subtle corn flavor. Now, the first thing we want to do is toast our bottom tortilla so that it can hold up to the.
Moisture that we’re going to be adding on top of it. So, I’m just going to place it down inside my air fryer basket. And then, depending on how strong the air is as it blows around in your air fryer, you might need to secure your tortilla or else it will blow around. So, I’m just going to take a fork and place it on top of the tortilla.
Before I put it in. And then I’m going to set the temperature to 400° for 4 minutes. And I can tell that my tortilla is still kind of flying around, so I might need to add a second utensil. I think we got it this time. All right. Well, our timer just went off. So, now we can carefully take out.
These very warm utensils and our nicely toasted tortilla. It was just starting to get a little bit brown on it, which is perfect. And now we can add our layers. Now, I like to start with some cottage cheese, which might seem a little bit strange, but as it bakes, the cottage cheese is going to melt into the tortilla. And then it kind of helps to.
Fill in and create that breadlike texture. And it gives it a nice cheesy flavor as well as protein boost. And if there is any extra liquid on your cottage cheese, you’ll want to pour that off before you spread it onto your tortilla. Next, we can take our garlic powder. And I’m just going to sprinkle a nice light layer all the way across.
Then we’ll do the same with our Italian seasoning. Now, for the cheese, you could use any variety that you like. I really like using the mozzarella cheese because it has the best melt and stretch. So, I’ve just grated up 3 oz of mozzarella cheese. And then I’m just going to sprinkle about half of it onto this layer. And then we’ll take our.
Second tortilla and I’m just going to spread on about a teaspoon of butter cuz what is garlic bread without a little bit of butter? And then we can layer this on top. And then sprinkle with another layer of our garlic powder and our Italian seasoning and the remainder of our cheese. We’ll spread that out. And.
I’m going to add just a little more Italian seasoning on top. And then we’re going to carefully lower it all down into our air fryer. Slide it back in. And now I’m going to set it at 400° for 5 minutes. But you will want to keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t get too toasted too quickly. And at the end of the 5.
Minutes, if that cheese hasn’t got a little bit of toasty color on it, go ahead and add another minute or two, cuz it will depend on your air fryer how quickly that cheese will melt and toast. Our 5 minutes just went off and this looks unbelievable. The cheese is perfectly toasted on top. And I’ll get my spatula and carefully slide it out.
Oh my goodness, that looks so good. And I recommend letting it cool for a few minutes before we try and slice it. Well, I let this sit for a couple minutes and now it’s ready to slice up. So, I’m going to go right down the middle and then down the middle again. And to make it look more like garlic bread, I’m going to cut across this way.
So it looks a little less like a quesadilla. Oh my goodness, that looks amazing. And I’m glad we toasted our bottom because it’s already softened a little bit from all the cheese that was on top of it. Well, that is still a little bit too hot. So thankfully I have one I made earlier that I can sample. This is.
Delicious. As soon as you bite in, you get that amazing blend of the garlic and the Italian seasonings. That cheese just holds it all together. And I love the toastedness on top. And then the cottage cheese just kind of helps fill in. It makes it taste even a little bit more breadlike. And the flavor of the white corn tortilla is just really subtle and.
Yummy. And I love that you can make it in about 15 minutes when you need that last minute garlic bread to go with your meal. Well, thank you so much for hanging out with me today in my kitchen.
