This bread is not only easy to make but also incredibly delicious and versatile. Plus, it’s dairy-free and can be vegan with a simple swap—ideal for anyone with dietary restrictions.

Why Choose This Gluten-Free Bread Recipe?

This recipe is a game-changer. No mixer, no kneading, just five simple ingredients, and a bit of patience. The Caputo Gluten-Free Flour blend we’ll be using is perfect for both beginners and seasoned bakers.

Known for its consistency, Caputo is my go-to for gluten-free baking, especially for its great taste and texture.

While this flour is gluten-free, it contains wheat starch with the gluten removed. However, if you have a wheat allergy, this flour isn’t suitable. Always check ingredients to ensure they’re safe for you.

Ingredients You’ll Need

To make this easy, gluten-free bread, gather the following ingredients:

  • Caputo Fioreglut Gluten-Free Flour: 3 cups (475g)
  • Warm Water (about 110°F): 1¾ cups (410g)
  • Instant Yeast: 2¼ tsp (8g)
  • Fine Sea Salt: 2½ tsp (10g)
  • Honey or Sugar: 1 tsp (use sugar if you want a vegan version)

Step-By-Step Guide to Making the Bread

Step 1: Prepare the Yeast Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water with honey (or sugar) and sprinkle in the yeast. Give it a quick whisk to dissolve everything. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, allowing the yeast to activate. You’ll know it’s ready when it becomes foamy.

Step 2: Add Flour and Salt

In a separate bowl, mix the flour and salt to distribute evenly. Once your yeast mixture is foamy, slowly add the flour-salt mixture to the bowl. Use a fork to mix until you have a sticky dough. Don’t worry if it’s not smooth yet—gluten-free doughs are usually stickier than traditional doughs.

Step 3: Shape and Let the Dough Rise

Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and set it in a warm place. Let the dough rise for about 1½ hours until it doubles in size. I like to use my oven for this: preheat it to 170°F, turn it off, and place the bowl inside for a gentle warmth.

Step 4: Prepare the Dutch Oven and Bake

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F. Place a Dutch oven inside as it preheats; this will give the bread that perfect crispy crust
  2. Once the dough has risen, shape it on parchment paper to form a round loaf
  3. Carefully transfer the shaped dough with the parchment paper into the preheated Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes
  4. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the bread is golden brown

Step 5: Cool and Enjoy!

Once baked, remove the bread from the Dutch oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Allow it to cool completely before slicing for the best texture.
