Discover how this person’s journey with eczema has changed after finding out they are no longer allergic to gluten and soy, plus getting their second Dupixent shot.
I’ve Found Relief: My Experience with Dupixent and Overcoming Food Allergies
For years, I struggled with eczema that seemed to worsen as I got older. It started behind my knees and in the creases of my elbows, then spread to my hands, mouth, face, and neck. I tried cutting out foods that triggered my eczema flare-ups based on allergy tests, but nothing seemed to work in the long term.
After seeking help from various medical professionals, I finally found relief with Dupixent, a medication that helped manage my eczema symptoms. I also discovered that my food allergies had improved, allowing me to enjoy a wider variety of foods without fear of triggering a flare-up. It’s been a journey of trial and error, but I’m grateful to have found a solution that works for me.
From Allergic to Glorious: My Journey with Dupixent and Eczema Relief
Let’s make some chicken salad while I tell you about my experience with dup pixen so it’s all been very good again it’s only been two weeks but like literally my skin is insane I still do not wear any makeup the only thing that I put on my face is moisturizer some sunscreen and on my lips I put Sarah V’s um healing ointment I really prefer that.
Over aquafor I’ve been having a headache with my insurance and finding which ones work because I cannot change my insurance unless I want to lose out on this dupixent so you can see how that is a very stressful situation with what’s going on some really great news is that I got my allergy results back because I had gone to the allergist and we wanted.
To test a few things she had warned me that skin Pricks aren’t typically very accurate especially when it comes to eczema because you’re always your Skin’s always reacting to something I’m waiting for her to call me back so we can go over what some of these interpretations are but I saw the results on lab core and I did a really quick skim and I saw.
That certain things that I was avoiding before now is showing that I’m no longer reacting to it as much one of them being gluten which is crazy to me again waiting for her to say something because I don’t want want to just assume like oh hey I could eat this and I’ll be totally fine so my plan is wait for my skin to.
Heal with the dup pixin and as it comes try out little things that I was allergic to I guess I guess allergic isn’t the right word in this sense because for me it’s more of like a sensitivity it’s not like I get the usual swelling or hard breathing whenever I eat certain things that’s something to take into account but I did.
Notice that when I ate certain ones of those before my skin would flare up with eczema so we’ll see what happens and I’m just hoping for the best because if I could eat ramen noodles if I could eat ramen noodles again and I’m talking like microwavable ramen noodles like cup of noodles I will eat and eat and eat that.
All the time but I have to remember to not go crazy even if my allergist is like yeah I mean go ahead and try and eat it um see how you react to it I just have to remember not to go crazy so I’ll probably try like a bite of an In-N-Out burger or something and just kind of see where that gets me hoping for all good things but again we’ll see what comes up.
Making a really simple chicken salad I don’t have any onions so it’s just going to be celery and Chicken Little Bit of mayo I think I have a lemon here somewhere maybe a lime but nothing too crazy and of course chicken so this is what it’s looking like you guys are going to come with me to go get my dupixent shot I’ll see if they allow me.
To bring in my camera just to like show you guys live action what it looks like back to dup pixon I have noticed a lot of really great things with it I mean again if you haven’t seen my previous video I talk about how the doctor was saying this is the safest medicine that he prescribes to his patients brought my dermatologist off.
Office I told them all about the side effects that I had experienced which was swelling at the site for less than a day and then the eyelid inflammation which went crazy so I’m going to talk to my doctor about that see what he says and get my shot hopefully they can do it on my arms because I think I’m more comfortable with it there I know people.
Get it on their belly and on their thigh I heard thigh is one of the most painful areas and I just I don’t wanted to get it on my belly arms it is I’m not nervous at all honestly it didn’t hurt that much um I thought it was going to work hurt way worse before but we’ll see how it goes this time you guys I just had the most insane.
30 minutes when I went to go get my shots so long story short I’m having problems with my insurance because of certain changes that I had to make and so they kicked me off my insurance that ends at the end of this month which is the 30th of June and I need to stay on the same Insurance in order for me to keep getting dupixent shots long story.
Short I’m able able to write everything with my insurance company but it’s still going to end on the 30th and depending on how long it takes for them to process the paperwork I won’t have the same insurance or might not have the same Insurance starting July so I need to have these dupixent shots at least twice a week so I’ve been I was calling my.
Insurance company I was calling the doctor’s offices and I was just making sure if I could get at least one month’s worth of dupixent either at my doctor’s office office or mailed to me because at that time it was not yet accepted dupixent was not yet accepted I’m calling I’m calling I’m at the doctor’s office the dermatologist gives me my.
Other depixion shot which I’m having a little bit of swelling with and tells me okay if you have any eyelid inflammation let me know I requested for him to put in the ey drop prescription just in case my insurance doesn’t carry on over to the next month that way I could just have it on hand just in case and while I’m in the office I get a call from my.
Insurance saying that dupixent is approved so me and my doctor cuz he knows my insurance situation he’s like maybe you can just go there and go pick it up right now that way you’ll have the two doses that you need for next month that way you don’t have to worry about it until your insurance finally Smooths over because we both know I do not and.
Probably should not be off D pix in for too long until my skin really stabilizes so I make a ton of calls I’m like it’s 400 p.m. places close at 5:00 places close at 6:00 so I’m making all of these calls and and thank God I just want to give a shout out to everybody that I’ve talked to I don’t know if they’re ever going to watch this but you guys made my.
Life so much easier I was so stressed all day thinking about oh my gosh will I be able to have D pix in will I be able to take another shot and here I am picking it up as if I’m going to like In-N-Out or Burger King or something I picked it up I have a month supplies worth of D piix in until my insurance writes.
Itself and I feel like I could just take a really deep breath so that’s what I’m going to do I’m just going to enjoy it my sister came along with me here she is oh snap let me unlock this come on in and mind you that was probably the like two-minute version of the story you’ve been going along this whole entire time with me just like.
Hearing about all the insanity that’s going been going on but I have it I have it I’m so excited so next time I have it it’s probably going to be a self injection and that’s going to be another thing that I have to look at to also a crazy thing happened when I went to go pick it up the girl giving me my medicine is an.
Aunt that I never knew existed she looked at my last name she’s like oh National I know people with that last name I know where they live and said like the area and I was like oh that’s where we are I was like who do you know and she mentions my uncle’s name and I’m like oh my God that’s my uncle like how are you guys related and she’s like well.
We’re cousins and I was like oh so you’re my aunt and I said hey Auntie for this purpose I’ll say her name is Lisa I was like hey Auntie Lisa and like all of her co-workers started laughing and so we were just going down the family tree of like okay so you’re so and so’s daughter and I’m blah blah blah so like to kind of top off this crazy chaotic.
Day that’s been happening I found an aunt that I had never met before and that is a big win for me isn’t that crazy that is crazy any crazy okay I’m going to drive home now and I’ll keep you guys updated all right I’m back home that was such a long day just for me to get a depiction shot but we did it it’s crazy.
Because before the day started I was like I’m going to do some progressive muscle relaxation which really helps if you’re like an anxious person before I even knew anything I was like I’m just going to do it because I feel like it helps the minute I was done stress happened so far this is the arm that he injected me in it’s around this area I.
Don’t know if you guys can tell but there’s like a little actually maybe you could see but there’s a little bit of swelling that happen let me tell you guys how the doctor’s office went because I wasn’t allowed to record when the doctor was in there and totally understandable he pretty much looked at my face because the last time he saw me.
Was two weeks ago when it was like really really severe he looked at my face and he was like oh it’s working like it it kicked in and that’s how we know that it’s it was for sure eczema like he knew it beforehand but this is the right path that we’re going down a while ago when I had my allergist appointment she had recommended that the.
Dermatologist do some kind of biopsy which is basically where they take a little bit of your skin they numb the area they take a little bit of your skin and they research it and make sure everything is good and that they’re doing the right medications and all of these other medical terminology I asked him again do you think we need to do a.
Biopsy and he looked at my skin and he was like no I don’t think so because that was definitely eczema like the dupixent really helped clear it up he was kind of poking and prodding all over the place all the while all this stuff is happening my allergist is calling me to get back on the lab results cuz she did some blood work on me she did the.
Regular blood work but she also tested some allergies she was going down all of the stuff and I have a big allergy to almost everything in the environment dust mites I think there were two different kinds of panels that she tested me for all of those were like basically red flags of you need to be taking and and she told me you need to.
Be taking a daily antihistamine which I had done in the past certain trees mugart which I had heard before but I literally had no clue like I was like what is that I have no idea what mugart is but apparently it’s a type of weed don’t have a cat allergy according to that but I still do have a dog allergy mainly it was all environment and she.
Said you need to keep your windows closed and you can’t just do any regular air purifier you need to do I think it’s called like a HEPA filter or Hippa filter I think I have that here as well so that’s something that I’m going to have to keep in mind I do like having open windows but at the same time when the AC is going I feel like that’s also.
Just blowing dust around and I said okay what about food food allergies food something because I want to know if I can eat gluten if I can eat soy if I can eat tomatoes like what are my restrictions there and she had me tested for so many different kinds of panels and she was pretty much like no you’re good on all of these things right there.
Were some that were a little bit more on the abnormal side but she was like if you’ve had them before and you haven’t had any like serious reactions or no itching or swelling or maybe not itching if you haven’t had any swelling or hives breaking out you should be okay one of them was peanuts which I’ve had peanuts my whole entire life and it was kind of.
In between the normal and like abnormal and so she said if you notice that you’re starting to itch more or you’re just reacting to it just be sure to cut it out but if you’ve had it before um just be very mindful of it but you could definitely keep eating so all of those like Dairy peanuts soybeans like no reaction gluten there was nothing and.
Then wheat had a little bit but she was like this is normal for wheat so you know you don’t have any allergies to these foods and that was such a like it should have been a bigger moment than what it was but because of everything that was going on around me I couldn’t really celebrate that small win if you guys are new to this channel I.
Have been gluten-free soyf free and avoiding tomatoes for the past five years ever since my Eczema got really bad especially around my mouth area I mean you can kind of see it right now this is me with no makeup on my face I look super washed out but like I historically had eczema all around my mouth on my hands and I found that when.
I would eat gluten or soy or tomatoes it would break me out even more which after talking to the dermatologist and the allergist both of them pretty much said similar things which is ex is a whole different thing it’s not just your food allergies or food sensitivities that are contributing to it like sure they could exacerbate the problem but your eczema.
Will always be there so dupixent will take care of the eczema portion but every person is different this is no way me saying you should go gluten-free you should go soy free you should go all these things like know your body and Trust in your word because if there’s anything I learned throughout this whole entire experience of having.
To go to the emergency room talking to the emergency doctor being prescribed these insane steroids needing to go to the allergist and the dermatologist to run blood test to get on to pixen the main thing is you need to know your body so much better than these doctors do I think I’m lucky in the fact that the doctors that I have talked to have been.
Have pushed that they’re really like even if these especially the allergists they had said even if these tests show up that you are allergic to specific Foods it some of it is a little bit of a give and take so when you eat and consume these Foods you still need to think am I reacting to this can I breathe properly can am I getting hives.
Anywhere am I getting like itchy like what what is happening to me when I consume this food so that has been very consistent all across the board after she had ran through all of my environmental and my potential food allergies she was like you have a lot of allergies in the environment and you definitely need to be taking a daily.
Anti-histamine as well as dupixent dupixent is such a big thing for you to be on and I remember laughing in that moment because I was like well good thing you’re telling me that because I am literally sitting inside of my dermatologist office waiting for the dupixent to come to room temperature so that I can get my second shot of.
Injection and she was like oh perfect that is so good to hear I’m really glad that you’re on that that and its own was a huge relief knowing that getting on depixon is definitely something that the allergist agrees on and it’s something that the dermatologist agrees on so next steps is I’ll be self-administering my dup piix and shot.
And after my skin really does heal a little bit more I want to try eating Ramen and I’m not just talking about like going out to eat ramen I’m talking about cup of noodles cup of noodles or gin Ramen or hot and spicy Ramen I forgot the one that you get from Costco I loved those growing up oh my goodness I miss it so much because almost every.
Other night my parents or my sister are like microwaving bowls of ramen and then just like hearing them slurp it I have to leave the room because I’m like I can’t eat that and I’ve tried recreating it in so many ways trying to make it fresh trying to make it with ingredients that I can eat and yeah they’re still really good but it’s not that same like.
Satisfying salty pre-made processed food I hope is that I don’t have to be so watchful about my food anymore because food anxiety is real let me know what else you guys want to see if you have any other questions about Eczema or do pixon thanks again and I’ll see you all in the next video bye
