today we’ll be making Ed Mame hummus look at this great color great recipe from Vanessa Marquez from the teac call and Campbell Center of nutrition studies I’ll be showcasing her recipe today and I hope you stay tuned thank you look how beautiful that is with a bit of tortillas come and join me and make this.

Recipe it’s so easy and you’ll love it and get addicted to it like I have thank you for today’s recipe we’ll be using the following ingredients so we’ll be using some cilantro here is the herb cilantro or coriander or theed uh this is a great herb as you know in the plant-based diet when you use a lot of herbs and spices it gives flavor to all.

The nice whole plant-based foods that you’re eating so it’s a great great addition uh to many meals I’ll be using that in the sauce today we’ll be using some garlic some lemons packed with vitamin C to help that iron go in our body I’ll be using some tahini Sesame tahini for those that don’t know what tahini is is grounded sesame seeds it’s.

Very high in in calcium it’s very good for people that are PL SAR or for anybody this tahini is also used in traditional uh hummus uh when you buy this brand which is nut to you nut butter ink or any type of brand for nut Butters usually the oil is on the top and then there’s the the the mixture so you need a lot of muscles to um mix it.

Up it doesn’t mean it’s not good just open the container I use a spoon and mix it up with all your takes a lot of energy so you mix it up and then it’s good to go so tahini I’ll be using ad Dame these are shelf and Dame is um I find them in the frozen section in my health food store um they’re organic I.

Try to use as much as possible organic because as we know soy is very uh it’s genetically modified most of it here in Canada and the US so try to find organic as much as possible soames are a nice addition to women’s food especially when you’re over 40 you will see that it helps a lot it had help helped me a lot in my Journey so look it up and you’ll.

See for the gr benefits for that as for protein this is a great plant-based protein um addition uh it’s high in fiber theam are high in fiber uh calcium lots of vitamins and minerals good for your body and all it takes is that you just boil them and uh there you go for a couple of minutes doesn’t take take a lot of your prep so get.

Your we’ll be using some cumin cumin is hot high in antioxidants for people trying to lose weight it’s a really good alternative spice to use it’s used a lot in mid Middle Eastern um recipes and it gives a really nice taste we’ll be using pepper and some salt so we’ll be making the recipe you will also need a high powered blender.

Like a Blend Tech or a vitam mix to get that really nice smooth uh texture and uh some mols that’s it so see you soon we will be making that recipe thank you before we make this delicious itame hus let’s talk Flats so my journey started over 10 years ago and uh I started adding more Whole Foods in my on my plate um it has helped me a lot with my.

Digestive issues and for my skin and now I’m 45 turning 46 this year and I’ve been on this journey and I’ve been learning a lot every day is h a journey uh and uh you know you can try it and see how you feel uh I had to learn how to cook uh for sure when you’re on this La side you need to plan your meals I’ve learned how to cook different whole.

Grains like kinoa and Millet which I had never eaten before they are very high in protein I learned how to use uh how to steam vegetables which I hadn’t done in the past so I steam my vegetables I don’t boil them anymore so I won’t the nutrients so veggies like carrots broccoli cauliflour those cruciferous veggies are really important I even have.

Brussels FRS which I didn’t before and I’ve Loved I love them um the greens like kale and swiss chart are wonderful um Swiss chart has become one of my favorite greens to add to everything um a lot of nuts and seeds a lot of fruits different varieties I try to eat in season that really helps also to keep the cost down um I follow also the Clean.

15 Dirty Dozen if you want you can look that up on the website ewg if you cannot afford to buy organic uh 100% you can follow those guides and it will show you the top foods that you can the The Dirty Dozen for example they with the most pesticides I follow that and it helps me with my budget as much as possible but but I also try to eat in season go to.

The farmers market and this way we save a lot um we have a lot of lentils a lot of beans a lot of peas and we mix them with with quinoa and Millet and rice and it’s they’re great combinations and we always find a way to have our protein which everyone is worried about but you get a lot of protein on a plant-based lifestyle get your calcium and we do.

Did it myself and I enjoyed it I learned even a lot more that’s why I started doing these videos for you showcasing their recipes so you can see how easy it is to add all these Whole Food plant-based Foods in your on your plate and feel much better and you will see your plates will be colorful you’ll have energy you’ll be excited to have all.

You can use a blende tech or a vitam mix if ever use a regular blender just blend a little bit more uh it should work um so I’ll be putting all the ingredients so we’re starting with our wonderful cooked adames I cooked them in advance I boiled them for a few minutes and uh they’re not hot anymore so be sure that they’re cold before you put them in in.

Your in your blender so we’ll be adding these here let me just put this down it’ll help me so like we said aami are high in protein and uh packed with vitamins and minerals that are good for you we’ll be adding the fresh lemon high in vitamin C A little bit of fresh filtered.

Water a little bit of fresh cilantro since this blender Blends really easily um I put the leaves like that I washed them before some cumin great for a lot of antioxidants our fresh garlic our sea salt our pepper and our tahimi.

Sauce it’s very sticky but it looks we’re going to play a bit with the water uh we can add more water to make it smoother um you can add less if you want I started with a small amount If Ever I see that it’s not smooth enough I’ll be adding some in the.

Blender okay just going to go get my stick what’s great about the vam mix it comes with a little stick that you can push all your ingredients down so I’ll just be turning this here you start low I forgot to open it it’ll go easier if I open.

It is you can open it up and add your little stick and push the ingredients down just in case you want go scrape it a bit o it’s nice and smooth yeah I think it’s ready yeah it is okay just close it up look how beautiful that color is nice.

And green filled with lots of vitamins and minerals vital nutrients and fiber and great for the body so you see you just have to play a little bit with it add some water to get the consistency that you’re looking for nice and creamy I’m just going to serve myself.

Here a little bit then okay so what you can do with this is that you can add it on some whole grain peita bread or even a tortilla or even some fresh vegetables like carrots and celery and raw broccoli and cauliflower and eat it like that as a dip look how nice it is so I’ll be.

Using some chips these are the chips I like kasta the organic unsalted try to get the least chemicals in my body so we’ll be eating a little bit of those with this yummy dip so let’s try it taste test I think this is going to be again one of my favorites I really like hummus I’ve been trying a lot of varieties.
