Whip Up a Deliciously Spicy Plant-Based Pepperoni at Home!
In this video I am making vegan gluten-free pepperoni once you have all of the ingredients together the process of making this pepperoni is super simple just going to take these ingredients and put them in a food food processor and blend it really well this is going to leave you with a doughy kind of paste and this is going to be used as the foundation of the pepperoni what I’m doing is I’m putting this mixture on some oiled aluminum foil parchment paper something that can go in the oven and cook off and I’m then going to spread out the mixture so that way it’s about an e to 1/4 in thickness and then I’m just going to add it right.
Into the oven and let that cook for about 400° 25 minutes or so once this pepperoni is cooked at that 20 25 minute range I’m going to remove it from the oven and I’m going to use a small cookie cutter whatever size whatever size you want to use uh that’s what you can use if you want larger jumbo sized pepperoni go with that if you want smaller use a smaller cookie cutter go ahead and cut those out take all the trimmings and fixings and goad and put those aside take your pepperoni Rings leave them on your sheet add them back to the oven let them cook for about another 15 minutes or so if you want to add a little bit of oil to it you can hand that’s totally fine once the pepperoni comes out this next time you are good to go pepperoni is done and you can use it however you.
Want so when it comes to this pepperoni you know it is gluten-free it’s vegan so that’s fantastic that you have that uh option to go with when it comes to pepperoni the flavor is good uh when I made the recipe used I used cayenne pepper and so that of course made it pretty spicy so if you want to alleviate some of the heat then you can go with a different pepper you can go with you know black pepper you can go with a white pepper uh but I like the pepperoni to be a little bit spicy so I use cayenne pepper the flavor like I was saying it’s good um you can definitely get away with using it as a pepperoni substitute but the look doesn’t quite look like pepperoni right the size is fine but it had that same kind of tofu texture when it bakes and it.
Kind of It kind of creates ripples in it and it dries up a little bit so it doesn’t quite look like pepperoni now you can still put it on a pepperoni pizza and have a delicious pepperoni pizza but if you want it to look like pepperoni slices then this isn’t quite at the Mark for you overall this process was super simple uh I think that spreading out the the doughy paste that was a little bit challenging cuz it was very sticky um however that’s that’s a small thing to deal with this is definitely something that I could see being made over and over again uh for me I probably look at a different option just because this wasn’t my favorite but overall it was a good recipe and I can definitely recommend uh you know you try and get home in your kitchen but otherwise I have some more recipes coming your way real soon because I’m your friend with who benefits.
