Wholesome Wonders: 2024 Health-Focused Costco and Sprouts Haul and Delicious Meal Inspiration
We spend money in a lot of places we’re actually investing in our health whenever we are spending a little bit more money in areas that really matter especially when it comes to how an animal was raised when our food has eaten the way that it was intended to eat we reap the benefits of that all of those things are going to have a major.
Beneficial impact to our health and our Wellness keep this on hand because these are kind of like my meal makers make it easy to eat healthy you’re already at the grocery store so pick up something that makes things easier for you so today I am sharing everything that I got from Costco I also went to Sprouts.
Those are my two favorite places to go so everything is glutenfree and Whole Foods based and dairy free if you don’t eat that way I still think that you can see some great whole food options that you might be able to get at your local Sprouts or Costco so stay tuned okay so the very first thing that I’m going to get into is going to be the meat so I.
Can go ahead and put that up and put that in the freezer and put that back in the fridge I love love going to Sprouts I get their meat and and their produce because I think it’s just great quality and you can get a lot of organic options for great prices so I’ll show you what that produce looks like it was 615 this is the pasture bird brand which is.
Amazing because if you went to a farm and saw a chicken eat this is how they eat they’re not vegetarians they go around and they eat a lot of other things they also pick around in the soil they do regener regenerative farming which is super important important for our gut microbiome to put good bacteria back into our guts but they’re eating.
The diet they were intended to eat and it’s not a large Factory like um scenario so whenever we can we can try to get pastured if you can’t the next best option is organic and after that the next best option that I like to go for do what’s best for you but I like to go for antibiotic free and naturally raised chickens at least and sometimes.
You do want to get the ones that say vegetarian Fed so you know that they’re not being fed any other animal byproducts which a lot of the factory farms are doing nowadays so pasture bird 615 for the split chicken breasts and this in something like chicken pot pie or soup you can really stretch this out which is what I like to do when I get.
Chicken breast the next up like I said is to get all natural if you can’t find organic so these are I like a I like Bone and Skin on my chicken because the flavor is so much better you get that crispy skin so they didn’t have organic this week so this was $7.99 and you’re getting 3 and 1/2 lb of chicken thighs it’s from sprouts and that was $8 and.
There are six very large chicken thighs in here this is from Costco they’re Kirkland brand this is the or the price was great on this it was 2606 you’re getting three individual packages I like to buy this and then you can just cut them down the sides put some in the freezer you can meal prep these put some sauces if you like in a freezer bag like.
A Teriyaki or something that you like and go ahead and pop these in the freezer and then you can pull them out and literally just put them in the air fryer which is something that I like to do I’ll share more like quick cooking tips like that coming up in the near future but these super versatile I recently shared a whole chicken chicken.
Nugget that you can make in the air fryer and this is what I use to do that I’ll link that video the next thing I got is chicken party wings these are also organic triple pack and it this was $18.71 and the prices of our chicken and our beef seem to be coming back down to a more reasonable price even though things are still high I like to get.
Things like that in bulk because a small pack of organic chicken wings anywhere else is going to cost about around eight or8 or n bucks so that is a that’s why I went ahead and bought these in bulk because I didn’t see the pasture bird brand that I love for the wings this week next up just some boneless skinless chicken breasts has come down in price.
So this was $28 for this triple pack and the pric has come down $1 per pound which is pretty significant so it was I think $6.99 last week a couple weeks before that it was $7.99 so this has come down to $5.99 a pound and that’s kind of how I know if I’m getting a good deal or not I do the price per pound the next things.
That I got was I love cete so we’ve got the cete brand flour T um almond flour tortillas if you are grainfree or gluten-free these are some of the closest that I’ve ever had and cassava is also an option but I haven’t seen that yet at Costco but this has I mean just this will typically last us for about 2 weeks my son and my husband love.
To have breakfast burritos with sausage and egg and salsa and that is an option I also use it I also use it for dinner options for like quesadillas stuff these oh my goodness if you can get this um when this video comes out hopefully these are still on sale at Costco but these were $44.50 off these are grass-fed Polish sausages and I’ve.
Shared a recipe that I’ve done with this on the channel super simple they’re already fully cooked but these are never fed any grain they spend their entire lives on pastures never given any hormones or steroids or antibiotics and they are in their natural environment when our food has eaten the way that it was intended to eat we reap the benefits.
Of that when we start giving our animals things that they were not created to eat we have to do things like give them companies have to do things like give them antibiotics and whatnot because they’re not eating their natural diet and most of the time they’re not in their natural environment so if you can get pasture raised you will literally.
Reap the benefits just physiologically in your health when you’re eating things that are in their most natural state so that’s why I love to get anytime you see the word pastured or regeneratively farmed that is I mean 100 times better than organic because it’s in its natural place you know cows they should be on pastures so this is from cows that are.
Not on a feed lot or a cafo and this is the most delicious Polish sausage I have ever had and what else I like about this is it doesn’t have a pork quic so love that this is a must have for us I usually buy one or two packs every single week because the ingredients are ridiculously simple and these are the Jones Farm chicken sausages and these.
Are the breakfast chicken sausages we pretty much have this every morning with some eggs and if you have been around here before you know that this is our real food and I went grocery shopping 2 days ago and we have already eaten almost all of these these were on sale they were some grilled chicken burgers.
Um and I’ll show you what the ingredients look like because I love for you to see what it is that I always tell everyone this read your ingredients know what you’re taking in know what you’re putting in your body and you’re ingesting because that’s going to impact your health and your Wellness so like just making informed decisions and I.
Want to help you do that but these do have sugar in them but it was $10 and whenever I go grocery shopping I really try to pick up something that I can make a quick meal out of that’s either pre-made or or you know I can just throw something with it so we actually ended up eating these the other night I’ll show you how we ate these I threw.
Together the most random of meals because I didn’t want to cook anything cuz I’d been out grocery shopping and you know i’ had homeschooled that day and all of the things so whenever you’re going grocery shopping it’s a great time to pick up something from the freezer section so you can go ahead and have something when you get home because if.
You’re like me by the time you go grocery shopping you’re pretty much out of all the food and if you don’t want to eat cereal for dinner um a great option is to pick up some sort of pre-made protein you could easily put some broccoli with that or or something else that you find in the freezer section or even a salad to make a complete meal out.
Of if you have some gluten-free buns you can make a burger out of that and then put some sort of vegetable on the side so those are some of the things that I like to do when I go grocery shopping just because the last thing I want to do is spend money at the grocery store and then go through a drive-thru and then you know you just don’t feel great after.
You do that and then spending additional money you’re already at the grocery store so pick up something that makes things easier for you so when you go grocery shopping do you tend to go through the fast food place or do you pick up like a rotisserie chicken what do you do what’s your like little hack on the days where you’re going grocery.
Shopping and you do not want to also have to you know cook a big meal or just spend too much effort in the kitchen next up I picked up some riced cauliflower this has has four one lb bags in it I love making like taco bowls with this I love putting this on the side if I don’t feel like rice this is.
My go-to so you kind of think that it’s rice it gives the texture of rice but it’s certainly not the flavor of rice but you could make some cilantro lime flour which is really really good and you can make a taco bowl with that with some ground meat that’s also a really quick dinner idea pop some avocado with that or whatever vegetables your family.
Likes and you have a ridiculously easy meal that’s another thing that we really like to do so I like to keep this on hand because these are kind of like my meal makers you know I can use these and make entire meals off of them just like the grilled chicken patties those aren’t you know the best the best ingredients in the world.
However make things easy for yourself wherever you can make it easy to eat healthy some produce if you have ever been here before they’re called Murasaki or Japanese sweet potatoes and they are purple purple skin but the flesh is white and these taste absolutely amazing if you’re usually getting sweet potatoes and you want to try something different.
You could do a white sweet potato or you could do these the skin is a lot thinner and I absolutely love the way that these taste it tastes like candy to me my husband is not a fan but I am if you have a Sprouts they have been carrying these so so amazing and so amazing for you so organic head of cabbage which you can do so many things with this you can.
Put this in soup you can make a stir fry which I like to do with this you can I’m it’s okay so the next thing that I’m going to show you are going to be the produce items that I got so I love picking up cabbage especially the organic cabbage from Sprouts it’s usually like 77 cents a pound and this I can use a half of a head of this cabbage.
And use it for stir fry the other half I can use for I can put them on top of like shrimp tacos where I just want to throw in some extra vegetables and this holds up really well in soup so that’s a great option to have that and then I picked up some of the organic celery we love doing wings and fries on a Friday night I’ll link the.
Video that I did on that just healthier and we put that in the air fryer I love to have celery sticks and carrot sticks on the side so that is why I picked up this it was about two bucks next up from Costco I picked up this giant bag of carrots this will typically last about 2 or 3 weeks and it is such an easy produce item to just mix.
In so many different things from soup to stir fries to having some raw you know having them on the side with your wings and fries that’s a great option to have the next thing that I got was this organic butternut squash um it was a little more expensive than I wanted to pay but it was about five bucks for this organic butternut squash and this is an.
Option you do not have to get this organic but it I thought it was on sale this is an option to put in soup I’ll share a video that I made with this so so good it’s just a great option if you want to have something different than a potato in your soup or if you want to have a different roasted vegetable on the side you are getting beta carotene.
And you are getting lutein and you are getting just so many vitamins and minerals from this butternut squash next up I picked up this chosen Foods Mayo this is avocado Mayo it was on sale for six bucks we already have it but for that price it’s usually $10 I went ahead and pick that up mushroom so these are the baby Bella and these.
Were about $4.69 this will last like so long and the best way to store this is to actually take these out of the package brush them with a mushroom brush they actually have those I’ll link one to description and then you want to pack these in a paper bag if you have a paper bag or you want to put these in some.
Sort of bowl and you just want to lay down some paper towels just because this is very very absorbent and you want to put it someplace like in a produce drawer because if not they can tend to pick up the flavors that are in your fridge because they’re like little sponges so many amazing benefits to mushrooms especially.
Portabellos so I also like to put those in things like spaghetti for my son next up I picked up the organic seedless cucumbers these are just like the English style cucumbers and these were I think $5 at Costco and this is just great to snack on on picked up just some organic shredded lettuce that’s going to go on top of some hard shell tacos that.
We got I picked up this is a staple I’ve already used four this is also a staple Aldi usually has a good deal on the yellow potatoes these are just really versatile because it’s a whole food it’s really really versatile and they’re really filling and that’s how we can bring the price down on a lot of things too and add bulk to.
Our meal without adding just a bunch of rice or a bunch of bread that’s a great option because you actually get a lot of vitamin C and potassium from potatoes there’s more potassium and potatoes if you’re eating the skin than it is in bananas but I did pick up some organic bananas they were $2 of apples these were $3 and some change at Costco bulk.
Section if you’ve ever been to a Sprouts it’s similar to Whole Foods where they have bulk items like rice and beans and um different like nuts and seeds and dried fruit I picked up about a pound of their coconut sugar about a pound of their coconut flour we’ve already eaten some of these but these were just their plantin chips next.
Up picked up some raw organic cashews from Costco you’re getting about two well you’re getting 2 and 1/2 lbs from this and I like to store all nuts and seeds on especially once I open them in the refrigerator so that they can maintain the the the oils that are in them that are also very prone to oxidation meaning that they break down.
Into free radicals into our in our bodies and that can turn into just inflammation in our bodies and we always want to make sure that they they stay as fresh as long as they can thing with Chia seeds I store these in the fridge and I just shared a video on chia seed pudding that I really like I’ll link that and this giant bag is about I.
Think $10 and you’re getting 3 lb the little tiny bags that you’re going to get in other places are usually about5 or $6 so this is just a great price you could always go to Costco with a friend and split some of these things down the middle and share that way if you know another household that also shops at Costco.
That’s one of the ways that we used to keep the price down but this is just a great item to have because it’s really versatile especially if you’re someone who bakes and you can’t have eggs as your binder you can use flax seed or you can use chia seeds I actually prefer chia seeds because they don’t leave much of a flavor so that is an option.
For the price has come down significantly on this I think it was like 9 it was like $9.99 for this bag I remember when it was like $15.99 and this is just blanched almond flour pie crust and for cobbler crust and for things that I want to still have you know some sort of like bread for I will make out of almond flour we already ate.
Some of these they are delicious and they’re not super greasy which I really like but I had never seen avocado oil sweet sweet potato chips usually they’re in some sort of um you know sunflower seed oil or something like that but these were actually cooked in avocado oil and they are delicious and it was under $6 for this giant bag this is.
Going to last us about m 2 to 3 weeks so I actually threw this with dinner last night to be our carb I’ve shared the vanilla almond version of this this is the quinoa cocoa granola this is glyphosate free this is glutenfree and it it’s not high in sugar which I really really like but I don’t typically sit down and eat a bowl of cereal without.
Paying the consequences for that so this is a great topping so on top of my CH SE pudding I can add a little bit of this for crunch the vanilla one is awesome and then it’s not it’s free of all the crazy chemicals and pesticides that would really wreak havoc on our cells and on our gut microbiome so another CFA product I absolutely love pretty much.
Everything that that brand carries grainfree tortilla chips and I just get this big bag I will be sharing some other items from Aldi coming up and just different meal ideas because if you’re like me and you see a grocery haul video and you’re like but what did you make with all that food so the last video that I did on Aldi I.
Showed you one example of something that I make out of this I’ll start showing you a lot more as far as kind of what we eat during the week so that you can get an idea of how you can use these things just if you want some inspiration I definitely believe that eating whole real food is going to feed your body and your health better than anything else.
Can and we spend money in a lot of places and though sometimes there are items that are a little more expensive where actually investing in our health whenever we are spending a little bit more money in areas that really matter especially when it comes to how an animal was raised what they ate all of those things are going to have a major.
Beneficial impact to our health and our Wellness if we are eating things that were raised in a way that they were created to eat and to live because that will literally support us and support our bodies until next time your life matters what you do with it matters so what will you Steward well peace
