Deliciously Crispy and Plant-Based: A Healthier Take on a Classic Favorite

The recipe for No-Fried “Fish” utilizes heart of palms as a creative alternative to traditional fish. The preparation begins with draining and rinsing two cans of heart of palms, which are then shredded and seasoned with Old Bay seasoning. A batter is made from oat flour, ground flaxseeds, plant milk, and additional Old Bay seasoning, before being coated in HV Almond Breadcrumbs. The pieces are baked in a preheated oven at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, allowing for a crispy texture without the need for frying.

For a side dish, the recipe includes a method for making potato “chips.” Red potatoes are cut into wedges and soaked in cold water to enhance their texture. They are then spread on a baking sheet and optionally seasoned with salt and black pepper before baking at 400°F for 35-40 minutes. This approach aims to achieve a delicious result while minimizing the potential health risks associated with acrylamide formation that can occur when potatoes are browned during cooking.

And today I’m going to show you how to make your own. Okay, so let’s talk about the ingredients we’re going to use to make this delicious vegan no fried fish. Now, first of all,.

For the coating, we’re going to use some almond crumbs. And these are some almond crumbs uh that I made earlier. Now, if you want to see the recipe to how to make my almond crumbs, you can check the descriptions below and that recipe is there. Uh we’re going to use some oat flour. We’re going to use some um oat milk. Of course, you could use any plant.

Milk um of your choice. We’re going to use some hearts of palms. Now, if you saw my video for um crab cakes and you’ve seen me use hearts of palms before, they are excellent for this type of dish where you need that kind of texture. Uh so, we’re going to use some hearts of palm. We’re going to use some ground uh nori. Now, if you have dol on.

Hand, do flakes or dol sheets, you could grind those up and use those as well. But I have some nori sheets here. I’ve got some ground flax. And then I have this seasoning. This is a mixture that I made to replace Old Bay. Now, if you’re partial to Old Bay, if you really like Old Bay and you have it on hand, you could use that instead. If you want to.

See how to make this seasoning that I use to replace Oay, you can look in the descriptions below the video. All right, so these are the ingredients we’re going to use to make our vegan no fried fish. Let’s get to it. All right. So, the first thing I’m going to do is prepare my hearts of palm to get breaded. Now, the way I’m going to do that is I’m.

Going to take each one. I’m going to just sit it uh here and I’m just going to shred it a bit with the fork. And I’m going to turn it around and do the same thing here. Shred it a bit with the fork. Now, you don’t want to press too hard and too deep. You don’t want to shred all the way through to the other side. Just somewhat. And then I’m just.

Going to press it down and kind of get it open like this. Okay. Now, right now, you know, it looks unimpressive, but by the time we get it breaded and cooked, you’re going to see uh the results look really good. It’s like little fillets of fish, except vegan style, of course. All right, I’m going to do another one here. I’m just.

Going to get them shredded each way. Again, careful not to push all the way through. And then once you get it shredded a little bit, I’m just going to take my hands and just press down a bit to open it up nice and flat. So on and so forth. So this is how we’re going to prepare our hearts of palm. And then we’ll get.

Them battered. We’ll get them oven fried and they will be delicious. Let’s keep going. If you’re enjoying this video, please like and subscribe below. Okay, so now I’ve got my hearts of palms all prepared. Now it’s time to season them. Uh get them battered in our almond crumbs and then get them in the oven. The next thing I’m going to do though is.

Sprinkle a little bit of seasonings on top. And again, you could use Old Bay, but I’m going to use my seasoning here. Okay, so now I’ve got my hearts of palm seasoned and I’ve set those aside for a while. The next thing I’m going to do is make my batter. Um, and I’m going to make my batter so I can dip my hearts of palm in them and then get them into.

My almond crumbs. Okay, so to make the batter, I’m just starting by combining all of my dry ingredients. Then I’m going to add in my plant milk and mix it until it’s really nice and smooth. Now the batter is quite thick, but that helps to create a nice coating for the breadrumbs. Then I’m just taking each of my horsapon pieces,.

Dipping them in the batter, and then getting them coated with my breadrumbs and onto my baking sheet. All right, so now I’ve got all my pieces coated with my almond crumbs here. Now it’s just a matter of getting them in the oven. All right, we are done and it is looking good. This vegan no fish and chip.

Platter complete with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce looks absolutely delicious. I hope I’ve inspired you guys to make this. I know it’s good, but I want you to taste it for yourself. M. That’s on point.
