Southern Comfort in Every Bite: Slow Cooker Mississippi Chicken Recipe

Today we’re going to be making a a recipe uh from Southern Living it was emailed to me and I like Mississippi pot roast this is Mississippi chicken made just like uh kind of just like Mississippi pot roast so let’s go ahead get started I’m going to throw all this in the crack pot all right first thing I’m doing is.

Spray my crack pot so it’s easier to clean you’re going to put in a stick of butter put in a whole stick of butter I got some uh some chopped green onions I saved I saved some to chop up and put on the top at the end so put that in there this butter this is nice and hot in here.

So I put this butter it’s melting real quick put it all over the bottom of the pan all right we dump in our I got one two three four five boneless skinless chicken breasts so put those five in there toss in some uh some minced garlic that’s.

Good um this is gluten-free this this this particular poultry gravy mix is gluten-free so um you can find packets it says put in a packet of uh of chicken gravy so we’ll put in this gluten-free um chicken gravy I like using this because I could put in more than a packet because I like gravy now it says they use a packet of.

Uh of ranch seasoning but I just got this uh spicy ranch seasoning dry seasoning so I’m going to add that in there cuz I like it I like my there’s some ranch put in a bunch of that there you go that’s good and then it says that uh half a cup cup of uh banana peppers instead of pepperi and then the juice so let’s go.

Ahead and pour some of this that’s a that’s about right h a little bit all right so I add the juice and I’m going to add a bunch of these Peppers so let’s add a bunch of these Peppers Pepper or not pepperchinis they’re banana peppers these are hot banana peppers Peppers By the way cuz I like I like the spicy ones you can add.

Sweet you can add peppercinis you can add cherry peppers all right so that’s in there I got uh some more uh chopped onion pepper flakes go add those add some uh onion powder uh I got a little uh white pepper crushed ground white.

Pepper add some uh fresh BR black pepper and uh here I got Montreal chicken seasoning so go ahead and add that now the recipe itself only says add salt kosher salt but I love this stuff so I’m going to add that and to finish it.

Off I’m going to add a little chicken broth give it a little more liquid let’s go ahead give it a stir stir this all up I feel like I want to add a little more gravy so I’m going to add a little going to add a little more gravy mix all right so I I have this on low I’m going.

To cover it it’s going to sit here for 8 hours and then uh and then we’re going to have it over mashed potatoes for dinner this has been in here for 8 hours 8 hours and it’s it’s ready to go I just want to give it a taste I’ve never had this before this this uh Mississippi chicken and uh oh it’s.

Good those banana peppers give it a little bit of a sour taste and it’s it’s really good overall the flavor is really good but I want to balance that sour flavor want to balance it out so I’m going to add a little uh brown sugar just enough to balance out the sourness of that um juice from the from.

The banana peppers it’s really the flavor is really good really good so going to put a little brown sugar in here that should be it not looking to make this overly sweet but just something to balance just that little.

Bit that little bit of sourness from the pepper I say pepperi but from the banana peppers all right let’s go ahead and taste it now oh that’s it Perfect all right Perfect all right uh I’m going to make some mashed potatoes and then we’ll serve this up and we’ll see uh what the rest of the family.

Thinks okay okay we got our mashed potatoes let’s go ahead and put some mashed potatoes down Mississippi chicken like Mississippi pot roast only with chicken instead of beef all right here we got a nice nice bad of mashed.

Potatoes woo let’s go ahead and take our Clippers and go in here and oh pull up this chicken pull it apart get it a nice juicy pull it all up so this has been on low for eight hours and the sauce looks fantastic it looks.

Oh like gravy but it it tastes so good oh my goodness like I said I put that little bit of brown sugar in there just to balance just to balance out all right so let’s stir this up let’s go ahead put some of this chicken on top oh looks good see.

There’s not a lot of juice left all right I mean it’s all cooked up in the chicken all right wait wait wait oh put those remember I save those green onions put those right on top all right let’s get the Moment of Truth here M get some chicken and some potatoes and.

Some onions oh fantastic so good this is really good oh my God this is good stuff this is Mississippi chicken go ahead give it a taste it might be hot so blow on it first very.
