Zesty Citrus Bliss: A Delicious Dive into Gluten-Free Baking with Orange Pound Cake

Hey everyone and welcome to the channel today I’m making a gluten-free orange pound cake from the loopy whisk.com the recipe description says this incredible gluten-free orange pound cake will blow you away with its intense orange flavor and moist soft melt in the mouth texture it uses both plenty of orange zest and 34 cup of orange juice.

So there’s really no doubt that orange is the star of the show here it’s also super easy to make and you couldn’t possibly guess that it’s gluten-free so stay with me and we’ll get started.

n oh so I found this recipe when looking for gluten-free recipes and from the.

Description it sounded perfect I’ve always loved pound cake and orange seemed like a nice change of pace I cooked this for the full 1 hour and 5 minutes but I had to put aluminum foil over the top after 50 minutes because the top was already brown but it needed to finish cooking a few things I noticed while making it was one whenever I.

Rubbed the orange zest into the sugar it barely changed color which was odd because it contained a ton of zest and two the completed poundcake didn’t have the nice deep orange color like the one on the recipe page it looked like an ordinary vanilla cake I took the first first bite without any icing because I wanted to taste the.

Cake itself and see if it lived up to all the height from the description it had a hint of orange flavor and was overpowered by the almond flour I would describe the mouth feel as soft and moist but it wasn’t a melt-in the- mouth experience I took another bite without icing and again the taste of the almond.

Flour overshadowed the orange lastly I took a bite with the icing and it had a little more orange taste but not a lot this wasn’t a bad pound cake actually it tasted fine it just didn’t have anywhere near the orange flavor I was expecting based on the description so as written I give this.

Two stars mainly because it tasted like an almond pound cake with a hint of orange with all of that said I decided to make another one with a few key changes here’s a picture of the second one the first change I made was to use regular granulated sugar instead of the super fine and when I rub the zest into it you can see how the color changed to.

A nice orange color next I left out the almond flour Al together and used two and 2/3 cups or 305 gram of the gluten-free flour blend this was to assure that the orange flavor would be front and center without anything getting in the way also I cooked it for 50 minutes and it was done those are the only changes I made to the.

Original recipe and it turned out much better it had that soft melt in the mouth texture that was described and I could definitely taste the orange as soon as I took the first bite and I could still taste the orange after swallowing the bite which is what I was looking for this second one also didn’t have the Deep orange color inside but.

That could be due to the type of oranges that were used or the color of the flower blend so everything can considered I would highly recommend implementing these few small changes if you make this pound cake because I feel they take it to a solid festar recipe.
