Celebrating Traditions: A Flavorful Journey Through New Year’s Culinary Delights

good job okay no I’m not helping nobody what are you doing old man are you helping hold it hold the ready hold it hold it come on let’s.

Walk want to hold it you help M me grab it like I’ll just walk beside you yeah just just do that and then Jackie hi her get that look at Jack can you get your.

Kitty you playing in the creek Maxi it seems that every New Year’s we are working on some kind of project around this Farm last year it was fencing and this year my parents have been reinstalling a gas line I’m not going to get into that story but we walked over one day and their whole yard was dug up the projects are never ending.

And they just keep on coming but that’s okay it is part of living out in the country now for New Years Ethan and I had two young babies in bed the of New Year’s and so we stayed up playing games watching TV and just hanging out which doesn’t happen very often of course for New Year’s we had to make our traditional New Year’s meal so the next.

Day we got up moved very slowly but got all of the food ready we do blackeyed peas unfortunately I didn’t have hog gou which is the actual traditional food but I added some bacon I did some collar greens and added bacon to those as well we made cornbread and had all of the traditional New Year’s food at least traditional for.

Where I’m from this is what we eat now I’m having a cast iron conundrum if you will where all my C IR pants I’ve done something weird to them I guess this happens to me every once in a while where I use my cast iron a lot and then eventually it’s like the seasoning wears down I don’t know if I just don’t do something right I I don’t know but they.

All need reason so that is a project that you will probably be seeing soon is me reseasoning all my cast iron so all of my cast iron pans are except one are down and I am not using them until I can get them reseasoning but that is the state of my kitchen on this day and we are just working with what we have you’re.

Probably also going to cringe at the Frozen collards that I put in the crock pot which is not how I normally make them at all I sometimes will use frozen if I am doing like stir fried collards but when I do them like the soupier collards which is what we always do on New Year’s cuz it’s so good with cornbread to soak all that up I always.

Use fresh I always make on the stove and it is just so much better but this was still good so anyway true Southerners out there I’m sorry if you’re watching this and cringing at me but this is where we are at this New Year’s feel like this year for Christmas for New Year’s for all of it I am just simplifying down I did less decor for.

Christmas less decorating doing less things at this New Year’s meal and we’re okay with that that is just just where we’re at now my mom got me this recipe card box for Christmas so I’m writing down my cornbread recipe that I just have randomly jotted down in my phone and.

Adding it to my box while Mr Jack rally roams around at my feet now we couldn’t all decide on a dessert but I got a new I showed y all the Old Country Kitchen wear pan that I got for Christmas and I really wanted to use that and so we couldn’t all agree on.

Lemon pound cake or a coconut pound cake and I needed to use up the lemon I had stuff for a coconut sour cream cake that I usually make at Christmas that I just didn’t get to so what I decided to do was make the Old Country Kitchen wear cream cheese pound cake in My Pan and then I’m I made up one batch of lemon mering like a pudding and then I also.

Made up the coconut the sour cream coconut cake icing and just had both of those in bowls that you could top your pound cake with I also made this pound cake gluten-free I will put all the recipes for what I’m doing here in the description that way you can look at them the cornbread the coconut sour cream icing the lemon mering pudding the.

Greens the blackeyed peas all of it I will put what I did in the description box rather than read it to you here because I struggled to remember it off the top of my head this was our lemon that my mom grew and we only got the one lemon but the fact that we even got one was so shocking to.

Us and I talked about that in a different video but I needed to get it used up this was such an odd lemon and I don’t know it’s a Meer lemon tree so I don’t know if that’s because it’s a Meer lemon it was a huge ginormous lemon this skin was so like Smooth that you almost couldn’t even grate it and the lemon was quite soft.

Now of course it was a little too old I let it sit a little too long but still when I when we first picked it it was still soft like that you could tell it was a little bit soft so I don’t know maybe we did something weird maybe that’s just the type of lemon it also had a very different smell than any other lemon I have ever had which has.

Always been store bought so anyway did that and then Juiced it so that I can make my pudding here now while that was thickening up on the stove I was running I was going back and forth stirring it here and there I.

Started my mering and so I just added all the egg whites left from from the pudding and added equal amounts and tablespoons of sugar and just whipped that until it was nice and puffy you
