Over how to feed your starter you will need a discard glass jar if you plan on keeping your discard which I do for baking stuff like that um I’m sure in the future I’ll post videos about those um recipes that I do you’re going to want to mix your starter a little bit gluten-free starter is so so different from regular starter I have found um so.
You’re just going to want to pour it out and then we’re going to measure and put it back into the jar so for every time you feed your starter it’s going to be one to one to one one part starter one part new flour one part warmish water um so you’re going to want to make sure to measure and this time I’m doing 1/4 cup of starter twice which means it’s.
Actually half a cup so I just measure it twice I just I like using 1/4 cup because it small it is the nice size for the top part of like actually pouring it in so you’re just going to pour in your starter and then next step of course is to discard anything you’re not using and that can be in the trash or in another.
Glass okay I like to just clean up the jar a little bit by scraping the sides before I start actually feeding my starter so that’s what you’re seeing here next up we’re going to add our flour I use Namaste it’s organic um it’s one to one and a lot of people use actually rice flour but um I mean you could totally do that I just choose to.
Use one to one uh flow so as you can see in my second 1/4 cup I just use a little bit less flour especially with the namase brand it’s kind of a thicker flour I don’t usually bake with this brand um I just have it on hand and I know that feeding your starter organic flow is definitely better for it so next up is adding your water and you will see.
After mixing it up that especially with this n must brand you kind of need to add a little bit extra water cuz it does get a little thick so like I was saying this namama day brand tends to be a little thicker so I will eyeball it and if it feels like it’s too thick like if you pull it out like I’m about to do right now and you can just tell it just.
Seems like it needs a little bit more water don’t be afraid to add some more water like that’s it’s too sticky it might not rise as well as it could so I’ll just eyeball it throw a little bit of water in um and then once it’s set to a consistency where it’s kind of like pancake batter maybe a little bit little bit runnier than pancake batter then.
It’s good to go I also wanted to insert here that if you don’t want to use your gluten-free starter every day you can store it in the fridge mine has done so well being stored in the fridge up to like 5 to 10 days and you can look this up too and basically all you’re going to want to do is just feed it you can throw it in the.
Fridge pull it out let it get to room temperature feed it and then let it rise and you can actually use it the same day or the next day next step is just to wipe down the sides make sure it’s all cleaned up and then throw a lid on top it can be either metal lid or a cloth like this it’s work both ways for me okay so this is it’s 5:00 p.m. and I.
Did this at must have been like 11 is this morning looking good looking healthy so you really just want to look for that consistency of like a little bit like cake better but a little bit thinner um because I really do think gluten-free starter just almost gets bogged down if there’s too much flow um but you can see this looks this looks.
Great it’s definitely happy I also wanted to say first of all sorry my children are in the background on life um I also wanted to just let you guys know that if you use Bob Redmill one to1 flour it works out honestly I think better than the Namaste Namaste is pretty thick like I said so just keep that in mind you would do the same.
Process just with whatever on to one flour works for you I also wanted to say that when you’re feeding your um starter if you didn’t know if you need more starter it’s just keep that one to one to one so it would be if you did half a cup of starter half a cup of flour and half a cup water if you needed more starter you could do a full cup of.
Starter a full cup of flour full cup of water just cons just watch for that consistency my starter has been fine feeding it once or twice a day depending on what’s Happening like what I’m baking with um and putting it in the fridge has worked also you liked this video if you have any other questions comment down below find me on Instagram I’m so much.
