Revitalizing Your Gut: A Gluten-Free Journey Update
Hi everyone welcome back to another video and if this is your first time to my Channel I want to welcome you my name is lyanna and I like to create content related to Affordable fashion wellness and Beauty today I wanted to do a 6mon check-in on how it’s going since I became gluten-free and in September I went.
Gluten-free after just being tired of having some struggles with my weight and gut issues and specifically what was going on with my gut was that I was was severely constipated all the time and I’m pretty sure that you know there was several contributing factors to that but one of the changes that I made to help with my gut issues and my weight.
Fluctuation issues was going gluten-free and the reason why I went gluten-free is cuz I’ve heard of it helping with gut issues and I’ve also heard of it helping with bloating issues and stuff like that and also I felt like if I went gluten-free it would really make it easy for me to say no to a lot of things that I shouldn’t be eating anyways so I did.
It as like a rule for myself just to make it a little more challenging for myself to get a hold of some of the food that isn’t that great for me and to kind of help me make better choices basically I don’t think I have a gluten allergy but it’s more of a preference since going gluten-free I have noticed a lot of things that I’m happy with so I do.
Plan on staying gluten-free I don’t think I’ll ever go back to eating gluten I can still have pasta I can still have bread it just has to be gluten-free and I don’t eat it like that often but I can still eat it and before I talk about how much weight I’ve lost and my tummy issues how those are better I also want to add in that there was a couple of.
Other changes that I made to my diet that also could contribute to some of these positive outcomes and that is that I decided I was going to drink 3 L of water a day which is the amount of water that’s recommended for my weight and also I decided to go ahead and cut back severely on processed foods sugar and dairy now I do eat those three items.
Sometimes I have limited myself to not having them very much and just having minimal amounts and really focusing more on Whole Foods like vegetables nuts beans legumes um fruit meat and protein and stuff like that but I will eat like some processed foods here and there I don’t I’m not like too you know too crazy about it I do eat a little bit of.
Dairy I try to limit it I try to just really limit the dairy like quite a lot to compared to what I used to I don’t drink regular milk anymore I just stick to almond milk and I try to find non-dairy things when I can we will still use milk in some of our meals or recipes we will add a little bit of cheese to some of our recipes but it is.
More sparse than it used to be for me just because I wanted to cut out a lot of things that would contribute to constipation which was my main tummy issue and it would be such a severe amount of constipation that I would have excess weight on me because I just couldn’t process a lot of the foods and I think a lot of the gut issues that I.
Was having also could have been contributed to my state of mind like I was very you know wound up I was stressed out and I’ve been in therapy recently so that’s been helping but I think that the gut and the mind can really be in sync sometimes so it also can be if you have like the constipation of the mind you can have the.
Constipation of your you know you can have trauma in your gut from things that you’re not like working through or processing I do believe that even though it sounds a little woo woo I I do truly believe that so as I’ve been kind of like on this journey of healing recently um I have noticed some physical healing and you know along with mental healing.
That’s occurred like simultaneously so it’s kind of hard to pinpoint exactly what has helped the most but I have noticed that my constipation issue is pretty much non-existent anymore I don’t have and I it was severe before like it would be normal for me to go 5 days without having a bow movement and you know it was uncomfortable you know.
If you’ve struggled with chronic constipation you know that when it is time for you to have a valow movement it can be really painful because you know it gets really hard and I don’t want to like go too much into that cuz it’s kind of gross but um you know it it’s just not a fun time it’s not a fun time and nobody everybody we all like to poop.
We’re human beings I mean it’s just a bodily function that is feels good I mean it’s good your body needs to you know you eat and you go and that’s just part of the way that it’s supposed to like function your body’s supposed to function and mine wasn’t functioning like that so it definitely it’s pretty much totally resolved I might go two.
Days here and there without having one but it’s not like it was before and most of the time I’m going like every single day now and it just feels so good I can’t even tell you guys how good it feels um I have lost since September I’ve lost uh I want to say around eight pounds and that is fine I don’t plan on losing.
Any more weight than that if I I like to be in between 120 and 125 and I’m use usually closer to 125 on my scale than um 120 which is fine um but when I’m starting to get up over 130 you know getting closer to 130 I can notice it it’s usually in my gut it’s not attractive I don’t like the way I feel in my clothes so it is nice to have you.
Know my body feeling like I fit in my clothes better I feel more confident I feel like you know gut health is so important another thing that I started doing better with is taking like my supplements every day so I take omega-3s and a multivitamin uh vitamin D which I’m usually low on vitamin D so I take a bunch of vitamin D and I take a.
Probiotic so that’s another big deal is to make sure that I’m getting my vitamins and I drink three these a day which is about 3 l a day which is pretty challenging like it is I have to make a conscious effort to drink this much water a day and at first it felt really like forceful like I was chugging water um for those people out there that don’t.
Like the way water tastes if you get like frozen berries I do this sometimes and it’s really really good you just get like a handful of frozen berries and you pour them in your water and they’ll kind of diffuse all day and keep your water cold so that’s that’s one tip that I like to do with my water but yeah if you just kind of get.
Used to drinking that much water it kind of becomes second nature at first it feels really weird the hardest thing and I’ve mentioned this before on a previous video was to give up creamer and my coffee so I would usually always start out my day with like a giant cup of coffee with a bunch of creamer with sugar in it and now I drink black coffee.
So I understand that black coffee is actually really healthy for you so I don’t know too much about that but I know it has like antioxidants and stuff like that so I probably drink less coffee this way because I’m drinking it for the caffeine versus for the flavor um so that was one change that was probably the hardest getting used to.
Drinking a lot of water and the gluten is it’s really not that hard for me to stay away from gluten once I got used to it because I like corn tortillas so I can still do like tacos I like enchiladas I can do enchiladas with the corn tortillas um I love beans can still go to Chipotle and I can do like a burrito bowl and just get like rice so.
You can use rice when you’re gluten-free there is gluten-free pasta um my husband does make a dish with glutenfree pasta that’s really good there’s so many different meals you can do uh I do a paa we do pot roast um fajitas we even do um hamburgers like cheeseburgers still and gluten-free hamburger buns come Frozen I’m not sure why but I just pop them in.
The air fryer for a few minutes and they get crispy and they taste really good they are a little different but I like them I don’t mind them at all so it’s really not that bad um you can still have potatoes there’s a lot of different things that you can eat being gluten-free still and one thing that makes it harder to eat when you’re.
Gluten-free is fast food so that’s really good is like not being able to eat fast food it’s it’s just kind of like now you don’t have like one less thing to worry about um I can still do like the Chick-fil-A salads I haven’t tried the Chick-fil-A gluten-free sandwich but I’m sure that’s pretty good I do um Popeyes they have like red beans.
And rice that’s pretty good I can eat that there and then salads anywhere and then Chipotle the breedable and we can get like glutenfree um pizza but we don’t really do that very often so it also makes it really hard for you to have like cake cookies brownies cuz most of the time they’re not gluten-free so you can still.
Have some candy if you want something sweet one thing that I do a lot at home when I have a sweet tooth is I’ll get a nut cuz I eat a lot of like trail mix I make a lot of Trail Mix and nuts and I’ll get like a walnut and dip it in some Nutella and that makes like a candy to me so um also when I have a sweet tooth I just get a piece of fruit.
Usually that’ll tide me over but I have to say that going gluten-free has benefited my life tremendously um I don’t really feel like I want for much I eat a lot more like natural type of food now and it’s kept me more accountable as far as like eating healthy and like I said the gut health was a major major thing so I recommend.
It for anybody that’s struggling with tummy issues I would say give it a try but that is my check-in on my gut health and being glutenfree I hope that you enjoyed the video please leave it in the comments if you have any experience with this if you’ve gone gluten-free or if you’ve had any of your tummy issues you know solved by something simple cutting.
