Hello everyone Hi everybody I’m Danny I’m John forgot and this is our charm midlife it is today we are talking about we went to dinner at Disney Springs at summerhouse on the lake we have been there many many times for breakfast yes several many times for breakfast um but we have not been there for dinner.
And so last week I think yeah yeah it was last week we decided to go ahead and try for dinner and I got some reservations and so we went we did it was probably 6 o00 or so wanted to just kind of touch on what we got and especially gluten-free people I want to tell you what a great place this is to go so we got the same starters that we.
Always get even at breakfast it’s pretty much the same menu almost we start with the cheesy dream Puffs these are cheesy dream Puffs they’re kind of like popovers full of cheese they have some Rosemary on top which I’m not a big Rosemary fan but this this doesn’t bother yeah me either but the way they.
Do it it’s okay yeah so it’s actually really good this big thing that we get of them is $12.95 they are gluten-free by themselves so anyone can go and order those and you don’t have to worry about getting a substitution or anything yeah um then we get the potato salad deved eggs if you’re a fan of deved eggs which is great and we are and I think we.
Touched on this when we went to homecoming and had those giant double day oh yeah but the way summerhouse does it is they mix in potatoes somehow and kind of make it taste like a potato salad doubled egg which is what they’re telling us it is um there’s Capers on there yeah there’s always little flakes of salt which are.
Just so good there’s some sort of sauce that sits on on the tray mhm I don’t know what that is but I love it I don’t know either it’s $1.95 for the order and we have never missed on those they are always perfect and again gluten-free naturally don’t need to worry about anything I don’t know that this is a hack or anything.
Hack but we uh we got so for $1.99 you get three right and we this is the first time that we bumped up the order to four you can get four of them cuz we’re always fighting over the last one we always split that last one in half and I think the last time we were there I saw someone who got four and I’m like hey wait a minute how do they eras hey.
Partner what are you doing over there why are these so special yeah anyway oh I’m not I wasn’t ready for all that so then we got our Entre so for breakfast I always get the wos Rancheros it’s again glutenfree they use corn tortillas and I have loved it you get two with the eggs and the beans.
And everything it’s always been great unfortunately he has never had good luck at breakfast he’s tried the pancake waffles you’ve tried the hash yep uh I tried something else too I forget what it was and it’s never been as good as mine no and I apologize for that and well it’s kind of funny because I I fake blame her for it because every time.
We’re looking at the menu she’s like oh you can get WIS Ranch arrows anywhere or you know whatever so I always go with something else and I look at hers and it look it looks so good and I’m like you know what the next time we do breakfast I’m just going to do that I don’t care I don’t care if for both getting the same thing right if you look at their menu.
They have their starters they have um some salads they have some pizza some pasta they have like some tacos and some seafood stuff MH um and then down at the bottom they have like their fried chicken and burger and things like that so they have steak I think and so the great thing about this menu is somehow they will tell you if you have a gluten.
Allergy or have Celiac there’s only like three things that can’t be made gluten-free one is the meatballs they have like this poke bowl that has won used for chips so the wontons aren’t gluten-free and something else but they’ll tell you everything else Pizza Pasta everything can be made gluten-free so it’s really while it could be an.
Expensive place to go it’s one of those that feels really comfortable to go to um and so because of that it was my first time I had seen people get this I ordered the picnic Fried Chicken Basket and so this comes with jumbo tenders fries klaw and a barbecue sauce and that was $24.95 and they gave me like five jumbo.
Tenders I mean they were huge I was impressed super crispy the chicken was perfect really well done ton of Sho string fries a tetiny little thing of KSA and a lot of barbecue sauce and actually the barbecue sauce had quite a spice to it it was uh it had more Zing than I was anticipating yeah but I was.
Thrilled it was really good I was again it if you have these food intolerances you just know what it feels like to go to a restaurant and no one else would know that this is a special dish or anything like that and so it just it’s nice well and to that point I tried it I had a couple pieces of the chicken and let me tell you I’m a I’m not a kind of.
Sewer or anything like that of fried chicken but I know a good fried chicken when I taste it and this was really good if you had told me it was not gluten-free I would have believed you it did not it it did not have the Hallmarks of a glutenfree dish okay it was it was very good it was tasty and crispy and all that stuff so I I was very impressed.
With it as a gluten privileged person and then you ordered the prime cheeseburger I did which came with cheddar lettuce tomato pickle mustard mayo and the same Sho string fries yep and what did you think of your oh man so this burger was really really good um I’m just going to zip to the punch line and say this is probably my.
Oh it’s right there neck and neck with the burger at boat house I mean but what about sto 71 sto 71 is probably just above these two and these in boat house and now this one are fighting for second place but not by as big of margin as you would think I mean these were this burger was really really good it was very solid as is the burger at Boat.
House steo 71 it’s it’s going to be really hard for somebody to come along and beat that um but this was this was but you were saying this one tasted kind of like a homemade like hom grilled it so the the the burger at boat house is good but it’s like a an a restaurant Burger this somehow I had the sense or or it’s a.
Taste or Umami or something that it was grilled like fresh off an actual Grill and I don’t you know maybe Boat House does there on flat tops and you don’t get the same thing but ooh buddy this was good this was I I know you’re tired of me saying this but it was really good yeah and that’s that always makes me super happy because he wanted the Fried.
Chicken as well and again I’m like oh gosh I don’t know why I just have a thing if two people are sitting at a at a at a table and you both get the same comment below please because I wonder if anyone else has that weird thing I just feel like if we both get the same thing that’s very strange so you remember what I told you about breakfast how she.
Always gets and and every time I say oh I think I’m going to she’s like oh maybe you should get this instead and I think it’s because she just is weirded out by us getting the same I’m weirded out by yes us getting the same thing at the table but also sometimes I worry if I have to get a gluten-free version of something that he’s getting the regular.
Version of that they’re going to mess up and so sometimes that makes me nervous too that they’re going to either give me we’ll both get gluten versions and I won’t know it or something and then I freak out so it’s partly just me being a weird person and partly me being trying to be safe you’re my weird little dinosaur having tasted the chicken if.
That’s really one of your bigger issues I would have no problem ordering that chicken basket gluten-free and then they wouldn’t get confused and we both get the gluten then you wouldn’t get the cheeseburger I know that now there’s going to be a lot of oh that is a that is an actual downside yeah is good the other perk of summerhouse is that they.
Have a cookie bar oh yeah so when you walk in off to the side is this entire cookie bar and they just have tons of cookies and everyone who goes to Disney Springs knows they want to get to Gideons because that’s the place to go for cookies but I’ll tell you what well number one Gideons doesn’t have gluten-free options so already summer.
Houses is up got beat for you they always have a gluten-free chip and this time it was also a vegan cookie and so we got that and I got one of those and you got like 10 others for yourself no I got three cookies I got a a regular chocolate chip um which actually I I personally think yours looked better and mine I was surprised at how thick it was.
And it it was very soft and broke apart very well it it was it was just the way I like cookies it was a like a legitimate cookie and not you know not a gluten-free second rate deal right yeah um I got the oh you’re making me want one I know I know you making me want it uh I got the uh the skitchy knocker Sky knocker oh I have trouble with that.
Uh I got the first time I ever had one I got stuck between a scotchy which is what it’s called and a Snicker doodle and I called it a sketchy knocker how does that yeah who knows but anyway I got AI uh and then I got a what else did I get the one with the uh R Krispie treats on top oh yeah it was basically a chocolate chip cookie with Rice Krispy.
Treats big chunks of Rice Krispie Treat and it was that added a way more than I thought it was you should just get their big rice krispy I mean they have like a huge I should thing I should but I think okay I’m just going to say this now and I’ll probably change my mind the next time we go I’m I’m just going to get one cookie and it’s going to be that and.
It’s going to be what it’s going to be that one really the chocolate chip with the whereis chies yeah okay you can as far as I’ve heard now you can also mobile order your cookies so you don’t need to go in there and stand in line you don’t need to go to the restaurant to get cookies you can walk in there anytime and just go through the line.
They probably have 15 different 15 different they also have a couple coffee things that you can get right there at the same bar and they had probably three or four different race Krispie treats yeah there have some brownies back Brown and stuff so they they’ve it’s a dessert bar and you can also if you’re eating at the restaurant.
You can order a cookie for dessert and they’ll they’ll bring it to your table if you don’t want to get up and go through the really really okay just wanted to give our thoughts on summerhouse on the lake we love this place I think we’ll definitely be going back there lots and lots and lots it’s so good um it totally redeemed itself.
For from for me from just having the breakfast that I was never never quite satisfied with this was this was good so I’ll gladly go there for lunch or dinner absolutely yeah good so if you’re ever in Disney Springs check out summerhouse on the lake the original is in Santa Monica so if you’re in Santa Monica go to summerhouse there and don’t tell us.
