hi Dew here from chew on vegan welcome back to my kitchen if you’re new here I’m a plant-based RN and I follow a whole food plant-based diet with a focus on protein so it’s 2025 and we’re off to a new year and it’s time to get back to reality holidays are over and it’s time to get.
Into it this year I’m going to be focusing on protein I’m going to be focusing on my step count I’m going to be focusing on working out at the gym with weights three times a week and I’m going to be drinking more water so those are my focuses for this year and um at least for the first few months they can change over time but for right now I.
Really want to focus on getting enough protein getting in the gym building more muscle and just feeling better and I’m working out with weights not only to get stronger but for longevity uh Studies have shown that when you have muscle and you can build muscle then your life is going to be extended you’re less likely to have a fracture you’re less likely to.
Have a fall there’s a lot of things that go into it but being uh Strong having muscle tone helps with your balance and it’s a really good stress reliever to get in the gym and work out if you don’t go to a gym you can always do weights at home there’s a lot of videos out there that focus on that and and you can find one of those one of my favorites is Mrs.
Slim on Plants she is great she’s a personal trainer and she’s got some great videos out there for workouts so today um going with the theme of protein focused I have a recipe today that is a gluten-free lowfat Satan it is impossible to find a Satan that is gluten-free because it uses vital wheat gluten so those of us that can’t have.
Wheat you know that I have SE IC I can’t have wheat some people are um some people can’t digest it so this is a really good alternative it’s not really Satan but it’s a Satan style you can use it for sandwiches you could use it um you know you could use it with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies it’s a meat substitute but it’s very healthy.
It’s Whole Foods it’s low fat so I think you’re going to enjoy it and just a reminder that I do have a cookbook available and an online course so if you are new into this way of eating or if you just need some ideas I will leave those links down below and those are both really good resources to get your year started off right and I just want.
To assure all of you that I will be continuing being Whole Food plant-based I’m just not going to be doing the start solution uh per se but there’s a lot of different versions of these kind of diets out there and I have just modified mine to work for me so if you like what you see here then please subscribe and hit hit the notification Bell so you’re.
Notified every time I upload a video which is every week and you’ll find that I’ll be having a lot of recipes that will help you along your way all right let’s get started on that recipe so first up I want to show you all the wet ingredients I’ve got some red lentils that I’ve cooked I’ve got some.
Chickpeas I’ve got some apple cider vinegar coconut aminos and some Veggie broth all right I’m going to blend this till smooth so I’m going to blend it probably have to scrape down the sides blend it again and then we’re going to add this to the dry ingredients all.
Right all Blended up as you can see all right we’re going to set this aside now it’s time to mix all the dry ingredients together so I have some oat flour I have some pea protein this is unflavored I just got this at Sprouts in the bulk section and this is going to help give.
It more protein and then I also ground up some lupini Bean flakes if this isn’t available to you or if you don’t want to use it you can just use chickpea flour but but this is going to be a little bit more protein then I have some nutritional yeast some pelium.
Husk and then my spices which is salt garlic powder onion powder cumin and smoked paprika all right let’s blend this all together get it Incorporated now let’s add the wet ingredients into the dry want to make sure you get every little bit now I’m just going to mix these two.
Together if it’s too dry you can add some water or some more broth if it’s too um wet you can add some more flour I hope I said that right I’m going to start off with a spoon and then I’m going to use my hands you just want a nice dough to form okay I’m going to get in there with my hands.
Now sometimes the best tools you have are your hands okay I think I’m going to add a little bit more broth just a little bit so now I have a line baking sheet I’ve got some parchment paper and then some foil under underneath cuz I don’t like foil touching my food so I’m going to shape.
This into a nice little loaf all right that’s about as good as it’s going to get then we’re just going to fold the parchment paper around it and now the foil okay so we’re going to let this bake in.
A 350° oven for about an hour or so and I’ll flip it halfway through all right let’s get it in the oven okay here it is so like I said you could slice this thin for sandwiches or you could just slice it up and you know almost like a meatloaf and have mashed potatoes es and veggies or you could put it uh crumble it on a salad there’s a.
Lot of different ways that you can use this and depending on if you want to do uh I think this is probably uh three servings but you could do four servings I’ll leave the protein and the calories for both those so the full recipe will be in the description box below along with all my resources that I offer so let’s give this a quick little taste all.
Right so I just cut off a little slice here you can see it’s got really nice texture and like I said this is great you could slice it thinner to put on a sandwich but there’s all kinds of uses for it so just think of it as like a meat substitute or anything how you would use tofu or Tempe or something like that uh you can throw it in stir.
Fries there’s all kinds of things you can do with it all right I’m going to give it a taste here really good flavor great texture I think think you’re going to really like this one and if you’re like me and you can’t eat gluten then this is going to be great for you because I’ve.
