Memorial Day Madness: A Sweet Escape in Gatlinburg’s Candy Kitchen 2024
Hi everybody today we’re here in Gallenberg Tennessee and we’re going to do a walk through a Memorial Day weekend we’re going to take in Gallenberg Don are you ready I’m ready let’s do it let’s do this Andy and it’s Memorial Day weekend in Gatlinburg and it doesn’t look too.
Bad no it doesn’t look bad at all it only took us about 15 minutes to get in the town taking the parkway from Pigeon Forge and it is noon and there’s nothing like Gatlinburg they’re always building always doing something new in fact you can see a a new hotel being built straight ahead kind of changing the.
Landscape at least here it is and you see folks coming in from Pigeon Forge a little yeah that is a really cool little H Shasta or something looks like it’s got thund yeah little little wings and it wasn’t bad coming in only took us about 15 minutes now there’s the Ogle cabin down below little.
History uh great place we got to use the restrooms right there and this is a great place to Park it’s one of two Gatlinburg garages it’s $10 all day and uh it’s one of our favorites and you can see the old chair lift over there and you can see remnants of old Gatlinburg here and there of course that’s the old Fun Town Mountain there.
so if you’re paying with cash you got to take your little slip that you got and there’s a little like vending machine down here by the doors and that’s that’s where you pay Gallenberg is easy walkable just put on a good pair of walking.
Shoes um we’re going to start down here and work our way down the parkway towards the national park of course we’ll turn around and come back uh and there’s nothing like being in Gatlin B you got Old Red Land Shark all kinds of moonshine distilleries anak keist off in the distance the Gatlinburg Space.
Needle and there’s only 96 parking spaces left here at the at the City Garage we got one of them right we got one of them and it’s really not that busy because usually about this time of day if it’s super busy this parking garage would already be filled um you wouldn’t be able to park here so uh $10 is not bad because this.
Lot right next to it is $20 to park over there so I definitely recommend parking here in the city garage if there’s space available also there’s another City Garage over by the aquarium so you can make a rightand turn by the aquarium and that’s $10 as well you got hillbilly Harley and it looks like they’re rocking over at the daquiri Shack on the second.
Level it’s a great place to watch the parades come through I think you got to do that in advance or you got to contact them in advance for that there’s a premium on those t tables but pretty cool little place up there we’ve we’ve ateen there a few times a great place for like a snack Ripley Super Fun Zone an aista is doing this thing called.
United Taste Of America it’s kind of a little foodie thing going on and the parking garage at the aquarium is full oh my goodness look at look at all the folks and Memorial Day weekend in Gatlinburg if you didn’t watch yesterday’s video do that we went up to.
Adista checked it out now we’re going to see what’s going on here in Gallenberg and it got a lot busier since we we got back down from G um anaka ah yes the village donut fryer and just a little break in the crowd to get a photo of the the fountain here it’s a warm one we’re look about 81 82° kind of.
Muggy but I’m not complaining it’s absolutely beautiful you can smell the candle Cottage over there I could smell taffy in in the air caramel candy right yeah I can smell caramel corn is what I can smell I love this time of year they have all the flowers out and the fragrance.
From everything uh the atmosphere is at at its best or pretty close to its best if you know Gatlinburg you know Taffy ah Ben and Jerry’s Jason Aline I can smell caramel corn over there killins the American flags are up I like it when you go by a business and the air.
Conditioning Roars out and it feels so good for a few seconds that’s Gallenberg they even put a fan by the window to get that smell to go on the street and if you’ve been here before you probably know the smell that I’m smelling at the moment Ogle dogs are lined up and ready to go home and the rose bushes here are.
Tall and you chicken hut and you know these guys are up to no good looks like they stole the Mystery Machine I think they did I like how you acid d so there’s the McDonald’s building over there where McDonald’s used to be and they went vertical they got a new new.
Storefront on there and the puckers in China Bazaar Building looks like it’s almost finished yeah doesn’t even look like old G gurg anymore old Gallenberg is definitely you like losing that that look that we are all familiar with over the last few decades and some things never change of.
Course the Old Smoky Candy Kitchen where Don’s going to go in and get some candy she wants to get some Taffy it’s kind of a thing that we do the original Smoky Mountain Taffy logs and the air conditioning feels amazing in here it is definitely humid outside oh of course you guys all know the smells that I’m smelling I think.
We’re going to pick up a small box of Taffy pick up a small box of Taffy while we’re here Candy Apples now these bears are really cool Grand old Opry Clarksville it’s all the different cities and you got severville right in the middle of of that bear this one here looks kind of.
Cool it’s got like the Tennessee state flag close to the the the Bear’s eye anyways oh boy right where I’m standing feels amazing that air conditioning is blowing right on me it’s a great cool down here definitely old school I love it I hope it doesn’t change I don’t mind change but I hope some things don’t.
Change they have freeze dried Taffy here that’s different I’ve never it’s the first time I’ve ever seen this freeze dried H think hot yeah I see you up there you have to know good still huh stay cool my.
Friend looks like he had his fill Gatlinberg Gatlinberg oh boy that sun is brutal woo yeah we need to sweat a little we do need this and uh got some Taffy probably melt it’s probably melted Taffy by now probably but we’re almost down to obber.
Gallenberg I think we’re going to turn around there and come back uh just kind of looking see if anything’s changed anything is new ah flap Jacks the pancake cabin they’re all over severe County and they got some good food in there got some big breakfasts in there Big Bargain world he and obber Gallenberg is so open.
Now I think there’s some flower boxes it’s all gone now it’s so so open obber Mountain I know it’s not called I keep saying Ober gatlenburg but it’s Ober Mountain um they took out all the flower boxes and everything yeah they’re they’re doing a lot up here oh.
Yeah iconic box of Smoky Mountain Taffy logs absolutely love these boxes what’s going on over here he’s sticking his tongue out for the Taffy and he’s like trying to scare the deer away I think he’s trying to scare him yeah yeah and that park ranger is down here hiding out in the bushes wanting to bust someone for doing something they’re.
Doing something bad huh he’s picking for blueberries and strawberries it’s definitely iconic isn’t it they’re making the Moonshine yeah that’s going to come coming to player what’s this in the tree a squirrel uh might be a raccoon they have these wristbands in there for $60 plus tax that will let you.
Do everything up there and the tram ride unlimitedly for the day and if you get it at if you get it after 6:00 you get the rest of this day and the next day and that’s a good deal because da and I paid almost $60 in Juno Alaska just to take the aial tram to the top so I that’s a pretty good deal and they got a mountain coaster up there too so there’s.
A quite a bit to do I think it’s worth 60 bucks I I think it’s a good deal I don’t know what they are but they’re pretty oh they got purple and pink ones over there all kinds of beautiful pretty they call them the pom pom flowers this is my first time seeing a cyber truck in the wild it reminds me of the DeLorean you.
Know ah you can swim right on the parkway there’s nobody in it it’s a it’s a hot day on a day like this I’d be swimming in that pool you know and blind shot barnab gab can have in the smoke come come on to our crazy Carnival.
I always like coming to the Old Smoky Moonshine and take a look at some of their their t-shirts that change out season to season and they they do have some pretty cool shirts in here of course they have a lot of moonshine White.
Lightning old crazy pickle ah yes you know you’re in the smokey uh yeah that’s what we need Don we need one of these little Bronco with a little camper up there yeah a little tent camper all picking and grinning.
Moonshining lot of orange lot of fishing I would assume he gets his corn from a jar and they’ve gone all patriotic here some of their te seasonal t-shirts uh this is a great place to come if you want to listen to some music great.
Place stay wild picking and a sipping what’s Matter’s of course you can watch the Moonshine being made you can smell that that East in the air and coming.
Right and there’s the there’s the mash the old bubble and Brew right Skylift park looks busy today a lot of folks are heading up to see the sights up there oh boy they’re always doing something new aren’t.
They ah we love the local Burl and we keep passing up the Cyber truck ah caramel corn that’s 1961 if you pass through here you knew the smell that we’re smelling it’s it’s just amazing it’s hard to uh not stop you know that was Gatlinburg on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend it’s not that bad I’ve seen it worse it’s actually pretty.
Pretty good um everybody’s all having a good time and I had a good time today it was it was lots of fun little warm but better than raining or something woo you can see how I got some sun today yeah it’s hot yeah but folks that’s going to do it for today here in Gatlinburg Tennessee if you like this Vlog give it a thumbs up also if you.
