Indulge in Apple Goodness: A Scrumptious and Guilt-Free Tart Recipe

Today on cat’s vegan kitchen I’m going to show you that just because it’s a dessert doesn’t mean it can’t be healthy this apple tart recipe is satisfying and delicious and it’s also a healthy no baked dessert recipe but everyone is going to love this recipe welcome to cats vegan kitchen if you find Value in this video remember to hit subscribe so.

You never miss a recipe let’s get started for this recipe I’m going to use about three apples now in traditional apple pie you’re going to use a Tarter Apple but in this recipe because we’re not baking the apples I’m going to use an apple that has a little bit of sweetness I’m going to use a honey crisp apple any Apple that has a little bit of.

Sweetness will work you notice I’m cutting the apples into quarters and then I’m just making sure the core is taken out of them if you watch my videos you know I’m going to leave the skin on my apples why because the skin has so many nutrients in it I also think leaving the skin on makes the dessert a little bit prettier each quarter I’m.

Going to slice in about 6 to eight pieces so what I do to make sure my apples do not turn brown is I let them sit in a container with a little bit of lemon juice and water and that way they won’t turn brown our next step is we’re going to cook our apples for just about 10 minutes in a panful of water I developed this recipe for a friend of.

Mine who does not eat any refined sugar or any refined flour so there is no refined sugar in this recipe and I’m going to explain why that makes a big difference for our blood sugar levels I covered my apples with water and I added about a half a teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of cloves now I’m just going to stir them to make sure.

That’s mixed in I’m going to let these apples simmer down for just about 10 minutes I have this on low heat while they’re doing that I’m I’m going to go ahead and make my topping and my crust I’m going to top my tart with the most delicious caramel sauce but it’s only going to be made out of three ingredients dates cashew milk and a.

Teeny little bit of vanilla I’m using mag dates I’m going to show you you have to pit the dates so they have these little ends so we’re going to cut the end off and then we’re going to take the pit out of the dates for the caramel sauce I’m going to use about 10 dates and a food processor now let me talk about this because there’s been a lot of.

Talk in the media about sugar and sugar is not a health food we know that but the sugar from fruits and vegetables has fiber in it and that fiber helps you absorb that Sugar more slowly that’s why this is not as bad for you as eating a dut it’s not going to spike your blood sugar the same way a traditional caramel sauce would that’s made with brown sugar.

I’m going to add just a teeny tiny little bit and I’m going to do this as we do it slowly of cashew milk now this is my homemade cashew milk so it’s a little bit thicker than the kind you might get at the store and I’m also going to add in just a/4 teaspoon of vanilla and I’m going to process it till it’s at the thinness I want it to be.

At if you notice I’m pulsing at first to get those dates chopped up once they’re nice and chopped I’m going to go ahead and turn it on I do see I’m going to need a little bit more liquid now if you don’t have cashew milk you can use water to thin it you can use oat milk you can use almond milk use unsweetened almond and oat.

Milk and I’m going to slowly add just a little bit more cashew milk you see how you have to add the cashew milk till it’s at the consistency you want it to be at I want my caramel syrup at the end to be thin enough so that I can drizzle it over my pie this is pretty good I’m probably going to thin it out a little.

Bit more I added about 1/2 cup of cashew milk but remember my cashew milk was a little bit thicker so you might not need to add as much I’m going to take my caramel sauce I’m going to store it off to the side and I’m going to make my crust the reason I made my sauce before my crust is we are going to use the food processor to make our crust and the.

Leftover caramel is going to give it just a nice sweetness I am going to add about a cup and a half of meal dates to my food processor and I’m going to add about 2 and 1/2 cups of walnuts or a walnut almond mixture I’m using a walnut almond mixture because sometimes walnuts can have a slightly bitter flavor but you can use one or the other these are.

Unsalted nuts so I’m going to add in just a/4 teaspoon of salt so what you want to see is you want to see it getting to be this consistency that I can press into a pie tin it should be mo moist a little bit crumbly and that’s about perfect always taste your food oh my God that’s good so while we were doing all that our apples were.

Cooking down now I want to transfer them with a slotted spoon to a plate and I want them to cool until they’re really nice and cool no more heat in them before I put them in my crust if you were to going to make this for raw vegan I just use fresh berries same crust and same topping and that’s going to make it a raw vegan dessert maybe wondering what.

Makes this healthier than a traditional dessert so I know people understand sugar is not good for them but they really there’s a lot of misinformation out there about why sugar isn’t good for you if you have too much sugar or too many carbohydrates in your body your body stores them as fat our diet is really rich in the wrong kind of carbo.

Carbohydrates in America but things like fruits and vegetables and whole grains they’re the right kind of carbohydrates that you want to include in your diet because they have fiber and they have a ton of vitamins and minerals and when they break down they break down slowly you don’t get that blood sugar Spike and you also get the added benefit of.

Vitamins and minerals and just looking at that it makes sense this doesn’t look like a plate of donuts now while our apples are cooling I’m going to go ahead and make my crust and I’m just going to take that beautiful date nut mixture and I’m going to push it into my pie crust now ideally we want to let this sit in our refrigerator for maybe 20 30 minutes.

So while the apples cool you can let your pie crust sit it’s time to put our beautiful delicious healthy apple tart together it looks pretty it tastes great all right now the best part we’re going to take our our caramel sauce I put mine in a pastry bag you don’t have to you can put yours you could drizzle.

With a spoon and my last step I am going to drizzle a few peans on top because what goes better than Apple and pecon and caramel and there you have one healthy apple tart healthy dessert that you can bring to any party and serve to any of your friends and they will enjoy it thanks for watching Remember to.
