Shai from Shai’s vegan baked goods is here today to talk about you know just some some vegan um uh just continuing our veganuary um and you know one of the misconceptions about vegan food is that just because it’s vegan and gluten-free doesn’t mean that it is healthy healthy you know but it’s still delicious you.

Know so for gluten-free um so how do you you know like what is can you just unpack some of those misconceptions about gluten-free food sure so there’s a myth that says that it’s better for you but it’s not really in general if you don’t have a sensitivity or you’re not allergic to it your body needs gluten so it’s essential to be healthy um and you.

Brought a few different examples of different gluten-free um items that you can make at home so kind of talk about what what you brought today sure so I make gluten-free dairyfree vegan cupcakes um I have a long list of flavors so don’t be afraid to reach out but right now I have and a chocolate with salted caramel.

And then I have some glutenfree uh peanut butter cups homemade some mini cakes and some stuffed cookies I’m just sitting here and my mouth you’re so CL don’t drool on I know I know I’m like smelling everything oh my gosh okay but there’s one with little surprise in there so Nick’s going to reveal it yes I’m going.

To reveal it how however however I’m going to do it um okay so this is like a cookie may seem like a cookie it’s so pretty don’t oh I’m just going to go for it okay um on the inside there’s an Oreo yeah that’s so cool so what’s and the other one is stuffed with um that one is a peanut.

Butter and jelly so it has raspberry jam inside oh oh recipe so what what are you to make today so the most important thing is making sure that your flour and your baking powder or soda is glutenfree um so right here I have my Bob’s Red Mill gluten-free flour um it’s made from beans but there’s different.

Types of flowers that you can use like almond or or um chickpea that kind of stuff too sure okay and so when you’re making uh when you’re making food with it can you just like substitute that like it’s literally just a flower substitute period so is it like a one for one or how does that work um it kind of depends on the recipe for instance my.

Glutenfree recipe you can’t just um your gluten-free cinnamon roll recipe you can’t just substitute the flour because it’ll just fall apart and not really roll um but they have xantham gum that you can add to it which will make it less crumbly and keep it together a little bit better cuz that’s what gluten does it keeps it together from falling.

Apart all right so then you have you got your flour mixture and then what else we have yep I have my brown sugar and then for vegan I like to use flax seed eggs instead of regular eggs which is um 2 tablespoons flax seed and three tables or six tablespoons water okay yeah so um you would just mix all that together and yeah there you go well thank you so much.

For how can people get in touch with you um mostly I’m on Facebook um Shai’s vegan baked goodies and then um you can call or text me um all the information is on my Facebook all right well thank you Shai so much for joining us and we will wrap things up after the break stay with us.
