Deliciously Healthy: Gluten & Dairy-Free Baked Feta Pasta Recipe

This is a description of a YouTube video featuring a gluten-free and dairy-free version of the popular baked feta pasta recipe. It is a hassle-free and delicious weeknight meal option. The recipe can be left as it is for a vegan version or can be enhanced by adding chicken sausage for an extra protein boost.

The recipe was tested with three different types of dairy-free feta cheese: Violife, Daiya, and Good Planet. Daiya feta cheese is found to be the best option for this recipe, as Violife melts too much when cooked. The intention to share this recipe was there a couple of years ago but was delayed, and now it is finally being posted because of its simplicity and great taste. Better late than never, right?

This recipe is adapted from the original recipe by Jenni at Liemessä blog and gained popularity in America through MacKenzie at Grilled Cheese Social and Yumna at Feel Good Foodie.

Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free Baked Feta Pasta

INGREDIENTS:

  • 16 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon smoked salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6.5 ounces Daiya feta cheese block*
  • 6 ounces Jovial gluten-free fusilli (or other gluten-free fusilli or cavatappi pasta)
  • Fresh basil and oregano, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Add 2 cups of washed cherry tomatoes to a 9×13-inch baking pan and drizzle with olive oil. Add the pressed garlic, fresh thyme, smoked salt, and black pepper.
  3. Stir the tomatoes with the oil and herbs and create a space in the pan for the dairy-free feta cheese block. Spoon some of the oil and herbs over the cheese.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes.
  5. While the tomatoes and feta are cooking, cook the gluten-free pasta in a pot of boiling water according to the package instructions. Drain the pasta once cooked.
  6. Once the feta and tomatoes are done, remove from the oven and add the cooked pasta to the pan. Add chopped basil and oregano and mix everything together.
  7. Sprinkle additional chopped basil over the pasta and serve. For a protein boost, add chicken sausage.

**Note: Daiya feta cheese is the preferred option for this recipe. Good Planet feta cheese will also work, but Violife feta cheese, although delicious, tends to melt too much and becomes runny instead of creating a thick sauce.

Gluten Free and Dairy Free Baked Feta Pasta Transcription

Hey guys I’m going to show you how to make a dairyfree and gluten-free baked feta pasta recipe um I wanted to post this recipe a couple years ago back when this whole thing went viral and I never got around to it so uh you know what better late than never and this is pretty amazing so I wanted to share it so you’re going to take two cups of.

Cherry tomatoes add them to a 9×13 pan add some oil smoked salt black pepper I put fresh thyme in mine two cloves of pressed garlic and stir it all together add your dairyfree feta cheese which I prefer DEA feta cheese for this bake it in the oven for 30 minutes and then you’re going to add your gluten-free pasta which I use the jovial gluten-free.

Pasta for this and you can stir in extra herbs I added extra basil and oregano and add some sausage if you want to so I have made this recipe with three different kinds of dairyfree feta cheese I have used violife which I love normally but it does not work very well in this recipe because it melts too much and just gets really runny de works very.

Well in this recipe and it tastes great it’s my favorite and then I’ve also tried this with the good Planet feta cheese um not my favorite taste and texture but it does work well for this recipe and a lot of people I think like it because it doesn’t have coconut in it it’s made with olive oil so that is an option if you have coconut allergies.

This recipe is perfect for week night dinners when you need something quick and you can make it a complete meal by adding some protein like chicken sausage
