Quick and Crisp: Delightfully Delectable Chicken Strips for Your Keto Cravings!
preheat an air fryer to 390° for about 3 minutes or just until your air fryer is warm if you don’t have an air fryer then preheat about 2 cups of oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat for about 5 minutes just until the oil is hot enough to be able to fry your chicken strips in you can bake these if you prefer to bake.
These just line a large baking sheet and preheat your oven to 400° use a meat mallet or any type of beating utensil you want to use and beat 2 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breasts until they’re the same thickness all the way down you don’t want one part to be fat and another part to be thin your chicken strips won’t cook evenly if you do that.
Sprinkle both sides of the chicken with some salt and pepper cut the pound of chicken into your desired size strips i usually do around 12 to 16 equal portions it really all depends on how big you want your strips sprinkle both sides of the chicken strips with 14 g or around 2 tablespoon of coconut flour make sure when you are.
Sprinkling especially the coconut flour that you just do a light layer of coconut flour this is just going to help your batter to better stick to your chicken strips don’t want a thick layer of coconut flour then set your chicken strips aside for a minute place 50 g of whole pork rinds in a large food processor if you don’t want to use pork.
Rinds you can use some keto bread crumbs or even whey protein powder actually works in this i don’t know about other protein powders if you do choose to use protein powder you need one that’s going to kind of crisp up a little bit and I know whey protein powder does that add 45 gram or around a half2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan cheese process the.
Cheese and the pork rinds together for about 30 seconds or until the mixture is fully combined and fairly fine in texture you’re basically wanting to replicate the consistency of fairly coarse dried breadrumbs if you’re already using dried breadrumbs you obviously do not need to process it for very long you just want to process it.
Enough to combine it with the Parmesan cheese add 1 tbsp of dry paprika 1 tbsp of dry Italian seasonings 1 tesp of garlic powder and 1 tsp of onion powder process everything together for around 10 to 15 seconds or just until everything is fully combined you can change or adjust the dry seasonings according to your personal taste then.
Set that aside for just a minute place 115 g or around a/2 cup of mayonnaise in a wide bowl then set that aside for just a minute place some of the coating mixture into a separate wide bowl you do not want to use this all at once you’ll be adding some more to the bowl as you coat your chicken strips if you do it all at once then the coating is just.
Going to get wet and clumpy and not coat your chicken strips the way it should so you just want enough coating mixture to cover the bottom of your wide bowl place the chicken strips one at a time into the mayonnaise and turn the chicken strips to fully coat the chicken strips with the mayonnaise remove the chicken strip from the mayonnaise mixture once.
It’s coated if you need to use a butter knife or your fingers and kind of spread the mayonnaise just in a thin layer over the chicken strip you do not want a thick goopy layer of mayonnaise just enough to smoothly coat the entire chicken strip now I know some people prefer to use beaten eggs or a mixture of beaten eggs and milk instead of.
Mayonnaise i personally prefer mayonnaise because I personally think it gives it a better flavor and a better texture once your chicken strips are coated in a light layer of the mayonnaise place the chicken strips one at a time into your coating mixture and once again turn the chicken strips to fully coat all sides with the chicken.
Strips make sure the entire chicken strip is fully coated you don’t want to see any little holes where you see the actual chicken through it so you want a pretty good layer of the coating use your fingers or the back of a spoon and kind of press the coating into the chicken so you can secure it and it doesn’t start flaking off when you put.
It in the air fryer lightly grease the bottom of your air fryer basket or drawer place the coated chicken into your air fryer drawer basket then continue the coating process until all of your chicken strips are fully coated as you’re coating the chicken strips you’re going to keep adding a little bit more of the coating to the coating bowl.
Just as I said a little bit at a time just enough to cover the bottom of the bowl until all of the chicken strips are fully coated make sure when you are putting the chicken strips into your air fryer that you put them in a single layer and leave a little bit of space around each one of the chicken strips you do not want to overcrowd your.
Chicken strips they won’t cook properly if you do that so leave a little bit of space so you can have a nice even cook all the way around your chicken strips lightly spray the top of the chicken strips with a little bit of oil i’m using avocado oil you can use whatever oil you want then air fry at 390° for about 7 minutes or until they’re golden.
Now if you’re doing the stove top version you would still cook it for about 7 minutes until the batter is golden after seven minutes open up your air fryer turn the chicken strips lightly mist them with a little bit more oil then cook for another five to six minutes or until the entire chicken strip is golden on the outside and the.
Internal temperature is at least 160° and again if you’re cooking this on the stove top you would do the same thing until it’s all the way golden if you are choosing to bake these then you would place the coat in chicken strips on your prepared baking sheet and you would bake at 400° for about 15 to 20 minutes and about halfway through you’ll.
Want to check them and if they’re getting too brown on one side then you’ll need to flip them over so they can get evenly browned on all the sides that’s if you are baking them rather than air frying once your chicken strips are done cooking allow them to sit in the air fryer for about 3 minutes just so they can cool off enough so you don’t.
Burn your fingers then transfer your desired amount to the serving plate you can serve these warm with the dip of your choice i’ll leave links in the description to my 2-minute keto ranch dressing and my 5inut keto barbecue sauce recipe if you do have any leftovers allow them to cool completely and you can store these in the.
Refrigerator for up to 3 days i have not tried freezing these i think they would probably freeze well my only concern would be that when you thaw them out before you cook them the coating might start to come off i don’t know like I said because I haven’t tried it but if you do try and it works then just let us know in the comments so we know for.
Future and eat and enjoy
